Tournament Day 2...

Day 2 also started early! Because Remi didn't finish his first round, he teed off at 6:30 am. He warmed-up in the dark with lights on the range and it was another cold morning!  Micah was able to get him going on his remaining round, before he headed off to get Roen started on his round.  Again, Anne helped with shuffling the boys and was at home getting Roen dressed and fed before bringing him to meet Micah. Remi finished just before 9:00- he turned in his scores and went straight to tee off again for this second round.

Though the morning was cold, it turned into the most beautiful, sunny day! Remi struggled through his second round, but really, he and I had the very best time walking the course, visiting and just having a beautiful day together. Remi seeks perfection in his game and until he can get past that, his game will never be inconsistent. Right now, he is going through a rough patch, but that is just the name of the game. I am so very proud at how far he has come with his attitude on the course, and that character building is what it's all about.

Remi finished in time for us catch Roen on his back 9. Roen played better on day 2 but still had way too many 3 putts. He ended day 2 with an 81 and was only 8 strokes from qualifying for the World UA Championship.  I truly love watching Micah caddy for Roen. Roen hangs on his every word and takes his critiquing so well. Everything in that boy wants to do better and be better. He would spend every day out on the course if he could, and it shows every time he steps up to the tee box. He shines with goofy confidence and eats up the challenge of every hole!

I think both boys learned the putting green needs more of their time! But the best thing they brought back from Florida, was the experience. The experience of playing alongside some of the very best, hanging in there when the going got tough, embracing the pressure, letting go of the bad and learning that we can do hard things!

After our long day I think we were all sore- Micah's watch clocked him in at 39 miles over the 4 days! Because it was our last night, we went back to the arcade to cash in tickets, Remi and I zip-lined, Roen played more pond golf and we ended the night on the bungee trampoline! It was the most perfect way to to end our time in SanDestin!

I will always think it was worth the trip- no matter where that trip may be. I will always be the one ready to hop on a plane, seeking adventure with her favorite boys. These experiences are full of memories that teach, mold and bond us together as a family. There is no real way of describing our travels together, but I know, as a mom, these will be my most precious treasures in life.

  1. You summed it up perfectly and golf is such a mental game! I know it’s hard to not always be on your A game but they both accomplished so much to even qualify for this tournament and they can be extremely proud of themselves! I just love the way y’all ended the day! Nothing better than playtime…just can’t believe only you and Remi zip lined 😂😂. Who am I trying to fool…one in your group probably wouldn’t have done it even if they paid a million dollars! Another day of great memories were made and by far that’s what matters!! I appreciate you sharing all of these days with us! Love y’all 😘
