We started this day off with a true, outdoor adventure.... the best kind of day in my book!
We had our sweet driver, Baba, drive us over to the water taxi station and took a splashy, saltwater ride over to St. Kitts. From there, we weaved through the mountains, getting to see a good portion of St Kitts. When I found out there was zip lining on this island, I knew we had to make it happen! The boys have never been and we knew they would both love it! There really isn't anything better than feeling the tropical air blow over your face as you zip through the lush island rainforest! We had a blast and it was the perfect way to get a tour of St Kitts at the same time!
From the minute we arrived in Nevis, I had heard talk of monkeys being all over the place. We had yet to spot any, much to our disappointment, so you can only imagine my level of excitement, when we ran into this tiny, baby monkey when we were leaving. We each took turns holding Superwomen and I really could have brought her back home! She wasn't real keen on being out of her owners arms, but he kept her relatively calm by feeding her pieces of banana.
When returned to Nevis, we got on our swimsuits, and then grabbed a bite to eat at the resort restaurant. We then spent the day snorkeling, exploring and chasing black crab all over the volcanic rocks. I love days where there seems to be no end, where we can get a healthy dose of sunshine, being fully entertained by nature. That was this day and it felt so good to kick back in the sand, good book in hand, listening to the boy's excited chatter through their snorkels.
For dinner, we ended up at an incredible boutique restaurant nestled out in the rainforest. Montpleir was set in one of the island's original 18th century sugar plantations. The property was oozing with history, cobblestone paths, sepia tone photos hanging on the walls, hidden away in tropical foliage. It was to die for! It also had a good hint on 'fancy' which I always appreciate. Upon arrival, they had us start in the cocktail lounge with drinks and hors d oeuvres. I loved that this encouraged time to just sit and visit. For dinner, we sat out on the terrace, the breeze blowing, and ending with chocolate cake that was perfection!
I loved everything about this day... visiting another island, riding a taxi boat for the first time, eating in a historic sugar mill, convincing the boys to follow me down the beach for a perfect photo op....it was tropical paradise!
From sunrise to sunset, you guys had an amazing day! I can only imagine how excited the boys were to zip line. I would like to think I’d do it if given the opportunity, but would probably chicken out! The baby monkey is so precious! Easy to fall in love with! And to end the day with dinner at an old sugar plantation…how cool is that!!! The landscape is breathtaking. Keep this adventure coming…I’m having so much fun reading it and seeing the pictures!! Love y’all 😘
