Excursion day is always a family favorite!
We love the water and getting to take a plunge out in the deeper depths is an entirely different experience from beachy waves! It gives you the chance to explore the reefs, where sea creatures hide away and sunken ships often land. When you venture out of the shallow waters, where your feet can't touch the sea floor, you feel fully immersed in everything around you! We saw a sting ray, spotted schools of squid, saw dozens of colorful species of fish and all the while, tiny jellyfish danced all around us!
Our catamaran had two lounge nets, which we put to very good use, along with a full-time bartender who kept the rum punch and Ting running! We listened to island music as we cruised the Carribean, we napped with the sun on our face and the water splashing below, we snorkled, letting the translucent jellyfish drip though our fingers, and when we got hungry, well, our captain made our day even better!
For lunch, we pulled ashore in St.Kitts to a beach side restaurant called Raggae Beach Bar & Grill. This place gave off all the tropical vibes and served the best pina colada I had all trip! The food was pretty amazing as well. It had a fun little gift shop where Roen and I grabbed t-shirts and then we got to snorkel the area until it was time to load back up!
One of the best parts of this excursion, is that they literally picked us up and dropped us off on the shore right in front of our beach house! It was pretty awesome looking out our window that morning and seeing the giant sail boat wating for us! Once we got back to the house, I had more guacamole and plantain chips waiting in the fridge for me- I had asked for some the day before and they were out, so they had these made up and ready!
After a little afternoon snack, the boys and I went off on our very own afternoon adventure in the sprinkling rain. We were determined to find these monkeys everyone kept talking about and with a tip about them coming out around 4:30-5, we set off. It was actually Roen that found a path that led us to monkey paradise! Oh, and when we found them, we couldn't believe it! They were everywhere! Some would hide way back in the bamboo, others would get right up close and sit perched up high, watching our every move and we even spotted a giant, mountain lion-sized monkey hop out of a mango tree, onto a roof and in the backyard of a resort bungalow! We stayed as long as we could and though we never made it back down that little road again, I feel certain we will never forget the way or the exhilaration of our monkey spotting afternoon in the sprinkling rain.
That night, we had a casual dinner at the resort. We all had conch chowder for the first time and I think I not only ate my bowl, but Roen's too! It was delicious! With full bellies, we tucked in to the sounds of waves and monkeys in our dreams!

Nevis…you are filled with adventure! I love all the pictures and with your narrative, it’s as if I saw everything with my own eyes! The water is beautiful and the sail boat is huge! It’s a blessing that none of y’all have motion sickness. 👏🏻. Not sure I could pick a favorite picture of the day, but the monkeys and the boys with their hair wraps on are in the running! 😂 I would have to say y’all had as close to a Jimmy Buffet day as you could get! Thanks for sharing…anxiously awaiting the next day! Love y’all 😘
