On September 21st, Remi turned 14!
At 14, Remi is as strong-willed and hard-headed as ever. In fact, these teenage years are not going to be easy in any sense. He questions, he argues, he needs explanation, and he puts up with no nonsense. He continues to see the world around him in very black and white ways. He is my rule follower, perfectionist and has very high standards for those around him. He tends to take things a little too serious and is very vocal about the way he interacts with others. There is no biting his tongue and he typically sees no reason to sugarcoat. It is what it is, and he usually has a scientific explanation to back it up.
As challenging as this boy often it, he is also my boy with all the feels. He is deeply empathetic and extremely in-tuned to the feelings of those around him. Remi aims to please and sets high standards for himself. This boy dreams big and sees life in a big picture way. He doesn't get caught up in what everyone else is doing, has zero fear of missing out and is my child who stays in his own lane. He isn't one to need much friend time and is as happy working alone in his science lab as he is with his very best friends.
Remi's extracurricular hobbies tend to be activities that center less on team efforts and more on personal performance. He loves trap shooting, continues his commitment to golf and plans to join the high school fishing team next year.
Remi has worked toward starting his very own business for quite some time now and finally, as of this fall, he has done just that. Remi is an animal lover and has put his Dr. Doolittle skills to good use in his creation of RAD Leash, his pet care business. He is loving his first client, a puppy BernieDoodle named Ollie. Right now, Remi is working on leash training Ollie and loving every minute. He is hopeful that he can grow his business to have multiple pets to care for daily.
He also has another business start-up in the works. Remi creates incredible things with his 3D printer and spends a lot of his free time on his printers. He has taught himself the software and has 100% taught himself everything there is know about his printers. In this hobby of his, his goal is to setup an online store selling all of his fun creations!
Besides filling his entrepreneur craving, his goal in starting his businesses is building up his savings-he is a dreamer and our little financial planner. He is currently working towards saving for half of his first car. We told the boys long ago, we would match whatever they saved for their first vehicles. You probably aren't shocked that Remi has done the research and math on what he needs to save.
We got the boys Green Light debit cards this summer and through that, Remi has started dabbling in stock market investing. He has loved researching companies and having the freedom to invest his very own money as he chooses. He is the ultimate 'figure it outer' and has an incredible ability to not only research, learn and teach himself, but tends to take things to the next level by mastering new information and skills.
Remi has an insane amount of self-motivation when fueled by passion. When he sets his mind to something, there is no greater joy and than sitting back and watching the magic of fruition. Remi most definitely isn't your typical teenager. Socializing at Friday night football games is not of any importance to him, quality over quantity is his friendship motto, and if he could skip the rest of junior high for physics, chemistry and business classes, he would.
Remi is my bedtime prayer warrior, my modern day Christopher Columbus, my Isaac Newton number cruncher, the only 14 year old Nobel Prize aspirant I know and a boy who literally dreams as big as the stars. He is layers of complex, curious and adventurous ideas all rolled into a little boy who still can't spell to save his life, but the one and only person I'd trust in the zombie apocalypse.
I’m going to read this post a million times! Remi is and always has been a forward thinker! Almost from the time he started walking, he could drive the toy gator better than most adults could drive a car! And his ability to load and tie his treasures down in the back of it was impressive! May he continue to dream big and keep reaching for his goals! Success is definitely in his future! Congratulations on his RAD Leash business! He’s already accomplished more at 14 than I have at 66!! I’m so proud of him ♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteNow, to walk back in time and share an all time favorite Remi story…you & Micah were hunting (I think) and Anne was keeping the boys in San Angelo. It was a hot summer day and they were in the back yard playing while I was fixing lunch. Remi comes in the back door and I ask him “did you get to hot outside?” He said: No, dat not the problem, Cici! It’s dem bugs! Forever a favorite!!
Thanks so much for always keeping us updated with life in the Davenport World! Love y’all! 😘
