We kicked off June with a NTJGT tournament right here in our lake community! Nothing better than being in your own carts and on your home course!
Roen tied for 5th with a 75, and Remi ended the day with an 86. Not too bad from either boy!
Promptly followed by cereal and a swim, of course!

Just 4 days after the letdown of High School Regionals, Roen went on to take a huge win in the All American Tour.
The boy has some resilience, that's for certain!
Day one weather was absolutely miserable, with storms rolling through, bringing rain, high wind, and cold! Neither of us was prepared for the cold, and I ended up having to buy a beanie and a second pullover in the pro shop. Once the weather moved out, they were able to squeeze in 9 holes. Roen was on a roll and came in -1 on that first day. On day two, he showed up with the same momentum, and after a playoff hole, he ended the tournament as champion!
He had already eyed the trophies and was pumped he was getting to take one home!
I had just told Roen after Regionals that it just wasn't his moment, but that his moment was coming... little did we know it was just right around the corner. But God knows, and for whatever reason, this was his little place to shine!
Onward and upward, Roen, and proud of you always!

I think it is safe to say we ALL expected this young team of freshmen and sophomores to make it to state. In fact, there really is no reason they shouldn't have. Three of our 5 had some pretty rough rounds both days, which hasn't happened all season. On top of that, we missed advancing by a mere 10 strokes. Had any of the three played just an "ok" round- not even their very best- we would have sailed through to Austin. Roen rarely has a round in the 80's, and both days had him there. Remi and Trent both struggled big time, and typically at least one of them can be counted on to come in with a mid-80s round.
And to add even more salt to that wound, the other two played some of their best golf.
It took me a long time to see a silver lining in all of this. But when I look back at these two days, one thing I can say for certain is that both boys played with integrity, maintaining the utmost respect for the game, and regardless of their individual performance, they never once made it about them.
Going into next year, I am praying for a few more pats on the back, more words of positivity, and hoping that we can all remember that these athletes are children who are aiming to please, and even on their worst days, their little hearts still yearn to feel valued.
Farewell, to the 2025-2026 season, it was full of so many wonderful days on the course, and I loved nothing more than watching my boys competing together for the very first time!

This annual tournament is basically a practice tournament for teams that have qualified for regionals in our area. Our coach puts this on, so it is held at our home course, which makes it super fun.
There is typically no pressure; however, this year, Remi was playing to secure the seed 5 spot for the regional tournament the following week.... there was definitely pressure for him!
I'm so proud of Remi, because he handled it like a champ and ended the day with an impressive 84! This score was more than enough to snag him a spot on the team competing in Bullard! Roen came in with a 79, not his best, but again, this was not so much about the scores as it was the practice and getting jitters out!
This was a HUGE win for Remi! Woohoo!
Remi requested Micah for this tournament, so my pictures of him are minimal! Roen and Pearson were paired together, so you can only imagine the fun they had!
Last week, the boys competed in their two-day district tournament to secure a spot at regionals.
Day one started with a bang and some pretty impressive scores! Roen was headed for a first place finish in Pottsboro, only to double hole 18, which left him one stroke behind the lead going into day two. As a team, they were leading with a 14-stroke lead over second. It wasn't Remi's best day, but with it being a team score of the top 4, his didn't have to count.
Day two, everyone seemed to struggle except Remi. He came out and battled, and I am so proud of him! However, our top 3 players (Roen included) didn't play quite as well as they did on day one. So, we ended up losing our lead to Paradise. Thankfully, the top two teams move on to district, and so on we go!! Woohoo!

We ended spring break in Tyler at the boys' last tournament before district.
We are still lacking consistency and still not seeing scores anyone is really proud of, to be honest. And that seems to be the theme of this season more times than not. That being said, I am hopeful we can get these scores out of our system before district. Golf is tricky, in that mental, get in your own head sort of way. Roen loves the pressure, but often only performs his best when everything is on the line. Remi tends to struggle under pressure and has had a heck of a season, battling to keep his spot on White Team. But as I always say, onward and upward we go!
Callisburg did pull 2nd place as a team (out of 17 teams), so yay for that!

Ya'll this was downright miserable!!
It was so cold, they ended up calling the tournament after 9 holes. With everyone playing a different 9, it also seemed impossible to score evenly, and I think everyone wished it could have just been rescheduled. But we survived and even sweet Elle came along for the morning!

Nothing about this tournament was much fun, but I did get some really cute pictures! Oh, and I should mention that Callisburg won this 'tournament'!
