Texas Snow Days...

After Christmas Break, we went back for two days (Tuesday & Wednesday) and then got out for the rest of the week due to a winter storm! I don't know about you, but over in our little neck of the woods, we got hounded with snow! We got over 5 inches and the boys, the dogs and this mama were all in snowy heaven!

There was lots of gaming, lots of friend time, warm potato soup, and of course playing in the snow! The boys did everything from sledding the dam on a paddle board, pulling each other on the wakeboard with the golf cart, snowball fights with the girls and ice cream in the hot tub! There really is nothing better than a snow day, and we lived up right until the very last bit melted!

Ice for 4.5 days...

One of the best parts about Texas winters, are the bad weather days! None of us like driving on the slippery ice, so you can bet when our few bouts of wintry weather roll around, we will all reap the benefits by having late starts, early releases and days off! 

Last week, was one of those glorious times! Monday, we knew it was coming and so an early release of 1:30 had been set. When weather started coming through earlier than expected release moved to 12:30 and most kiddos were being picked up even earlier than that. The roads to school are narrow, winding, and full of ups and downs. No one wants this gal on icy roads, so I went ahead and grabbed the boys around 10:30. From there, weather picked up and kept on going. We ended up having school canceled Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, AND Friday!

What a dream!!!

We mostly stayed indoors, cozied up on the coach, snuggling with puppies and getting together evenings with friends for dinner. These days are alway such a treat and I will never complain about getting a good weekday sleep-in!

Snow Day & A Late Start...

 Last week, we had an evening of fluffy flurries that resulted in a 10am start the next day! 

Micah made chili, we snuggled up on the coach and watched the movie to the book Remi had just read (A Wrinkle in Time- the boys and I love doing this), and of course, the boys ventured out to catch a few flakes on their tongues and Roen marked his spot on any surface he saw fit!

This was a snow day that really had me wishing for 10 am starts everyday... how wonderful it was to be able to mosey our way awake instead of the normal rushing about!

Snow Days...

We are always up for as many snow days as we can get! A few weeks ago, we got our wish, when snow hit and we got two days out of school!

Remi has been dying to see what Scout thought of snow, if we were lucky enough to get any this year. Well, his puppy loving heart wish came true! School was canceled for Thursday and Friday with anticipation of wintry weather and icy roads. The boys woke up early Thursday morning, threw on their ski gear and were out the door with Scout in tow! As Remi predicted, she loved the snow just as much as he does! That first day, the boys and Scout stayed outside all day long. They came in for hot cocoa breaks, but then it was right back outside! Sledding, playing, snowball fighting... it was a pretty perfect snow day!

Even with the icy roads and snowy weather, we were able to sneak in lots of friend time on these cold days! We all had so much fun, I think we were all pretty sad when the snow melted and it was back to the school grind.

SNOW DAY...

Yesterday, we had a snow day! Lots of snow was predicted and so school was canceled Tuesday evening for the next day. Although, we didn't actually get any snow until later in the afternoon, it was so nice to stay inside on the cold, rainy day! Because of the snow we had Wednesday, we ended up having a 10:00 start on Thursday. It was such a nice little mid-week break!

We spent the day watching movies, playing indoor basketball and multiple games of CAT, baking cookies and rice krispie treats, having a building competition with Remi's stockpile of junk/found objects/recycled containers/building supplies, reading, chores, a little friend time and really just living up our day together!

Snow Day...

Last Saturday, the boys woke up to SNOW!

We don't always get snow around our parts, but when we do, you can bet, the boys will be out in it, and momma will be taking pictures! They played all morning, throwing snowballs and building tiny snowmen until their gloves and pants were soaked. Then they came in for hot cocoa and by that afternoon, the snow had melted away.

What a fun Saturday surprise!
