Last Day of School 2026....

I can't really figure out where this school year went, but somehow, I now have a sophomore and a junior! This mama is nowhere near ready to have an upperclassman!

Somehow Remi ended up wearing the same shirt on the last day as he did the first, and I think it's safe to say both of these stinkers have GROWN!!

First Day of School 2025...

I officially have two high schoolers! Where has time gone?

Both boys were a little tired, a little grumpy, Roen more so than Remi, but we survived our first day!

Remi is super excited about welding, robotics and math- he thinks Spanish might be hard! He also anticipates a lot of writing in english and history, and though it's been quite sometime since I have talked about his dyslexia on here, writing is his very biggest challenge. However, as long as he has time at home to work, he and I make a pretty darn good writing team!

Roen was really only excited about his art class, athletics and lunch. He isn't real big on the whole aspect of sitting still, not being able to talk and just school in general, but he always seems to push through. This year, we are setting his goal for all A's instead of AB because, though he may not love school, he is super smart and we are trying to push him to reach his potential!

Here's to a great year with new things to learn, teachers to get to know and lots of golf to play!

Last Day of School

Ya'll, the changes in my babies this school year!! Their faces are losing all the little boy qualities and are morphing into square jawlines and manly smiles. I wish I could bottle them up, because I never want to forget how much I love them at 14 and 15 years old!

It was such an awesome year for them both and though it's a bit bittersweet closing their middle school and freshman chapters, no one is sad about jumping into summer!

Here is to late nights, wet swimsuits and perfecting our golf tans!

Fall School Pictures '24...

I threw dressing up for picture day out the window a long time ago! I did not, however, mean to let Roen's hair get this long right before pictures. In fact, he was 'dress coded' for his hair this very day and I trimmed it that evening, only later did I realize it had been picture day. Oh well, this is the boys on their everyday- long curls, hoodies and t-shirts! One thing is for certain, these days are flying by!

Meet The Wildcats '24

I didn't get many pictures this year, as I was mostly tied up with selling our new spiritwear! I spend all summer on designs and products, so it's always so fun to see everyone loving what I put my heart and soul into!

Roen was running around with friends and I didn't see him one time! It was Remi's first time to be introduced as a varsity Wildcat athlete and that was pretty exciting! I loved seeing him out there with his HS golf team and just know he is going to love every minute of school golf! And if you look closely, you can tell, being out there in the spotlight is NOT his favorite place to be, lol!

Micah was also non-stop busy manning the grills and making sure all the students, teachers and parents had plenty of food to eat. This job is no quick and easy feat, as he shops and cooks for 500 people. He does wrangle up help for the actual cooking and serving, but what a servant he is to our community! And how about that little 14 year old out there serving... the apple didn't fall far from that tree!

I love our little school, full of traditions, out in the middle of dirt roads and country, where we all know way too much about each other, but where our kids can go to school with things like prayer and that 'old school' way of thinking!

1st Day of School '24...

I officially have an 8th grader and a HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN! How in the world?!

I have to say, these two boys are an absolute barrel of fun and the teen years are proving to be my most favorite! The laughs we have, the conversations that are silly, the deep conversations at the end of the day, the way Remi laughs about Roen's ramen noodle hair, the way Roen stinks us out every morning on the way to school, the way Remi takes such good care of me... watching them grown into little men are the best days of my life!

The boys started on a Thursday, so we got just little dose of routine before hitting it full throttle. They both seemed to be super excited... those smiles are 100% genuine! I love my  quiet productive days and when I was gifted an afternoon rain storm on their second day back, you better belive I grabbed my book, tea and cozied up in my favorite porch rocker!

In celebration of the their first day back, we met up at our favorite Mexican restaurant for an early dinner with friends- we really are gonna have a hard time giving up so much of our friend time!

And just for fun and your viewing pleasure, at the bottom you will find Remi's 1st Day of Elementary, Remi's 1st Day of Middle School and Remi's 1st Day of High School! Oh the fun of comparing and looking back!

Meet The Teacher '24...

Meet The Teacher is always a pretty chaotic evening! However, this year we separated Meet the Teacher and Meet the Wildcats, which made it all a lot more enjoyable. Usually, I am trying to get both boys to all their classes as fast as I can so that I can get the spiritwear shack opened up while Micah is cooking for the students and staff.

It was so nice to hand him a schedule and send him and Roen off- Remi had already claimed me as his tour guide!

Initially, both boys tried to tell us they didn't want our helping in finding classes. When I informed them that they would be responsible for meeting each teacher (an actual conversation), sighing in, getting syllabus and Remind codes... well, they quickly decided they wanted our help!

Roen showed up with two little sidekicks because he really just likes to be with friends at all times, Remi was thoroughly embarrassed by me telling every person I saw "Hello!", "I love your haircut!", "How is summer already over?!", "Oh my gosh, you look so cute!", but really it was a great evening of finding classes and meeting teachers!

We ended the evening with Mexican food and friends! Ready or not, school days have arrived!

Last Day of 7th & 8th...

Oh, how we love our summer days!! We have lots of travel lined up, hopefully a good bit of sleeping in, throw in a good dose of golf, lots of fishing and long, hot days of sunshine!!

Looking at their first day compared to their last, I think Remi has most definitely changed the most. He has lost so much of his baby face!! It's hard to believe that in just a few short months, he will be 15 and driving us around! Here's to soaking up summer and putting all things school and routine on the back burner!

Fall Pictures...

I didn't make the boys dress-up this year for pictures and clearly they didn't get a haircut either. I guess these yearbook pictures will show the true day-to-day Remi and Roen! Once they got to school and realized it was picture day, they both texted me frantic- it was pretty cute!

First Day of School 2023...

7th & 8th Grade!

Goodness, how time flies! This is Remi's very last year of middle school and that is something that I can't really believe! BUT this boy has grown so much, and feels every bit of his age. He is especially excited about his Ag and Algebra classes this year and is my boy who loves school for the opportunity to learn.

Roen loves school and sees it as an opportunity as well.... an opportunity to make sure his outfits are spot on, shoes matching clothes and a healthy dose of cologne at all times (hahaha)! He is a smart little booger, no doubt, but his passions lie with socializing and sports!

I have a feeling this is going to be a fabulous year for my middle school Wildcats!

Here is Remi from his first day of middle school, as a 6th grader, in 2021 compared to his first day of 8th grade....

Meet the Wildcats 2023...

Meet the Wildcats is always a chaotic, exciting night for our bunch!

Micah cooks hot dogs for the community,  so he is busy setting up, getting volunteers sorted and making sure he is ready to feed the coming crowd. I love that he does this, but it also means I have zero help for the evening.

While he fires up the grill, I attend to the boys and their schedules. The spirit barn is also open, so I am helping the boys meet all their teachers as fast as I can, so I can get back to the barn to sell all the new spirit gear! It really is a fun evening and once we get down to the football field, it is all smiles at seeing friends and the excitement of back to school days!

And because who doesn't love a good then and now pic?! This is the same crew at Meet the Teacher from 2019 (3rd & 4th grades)....

Last Day of School 2023...

One of the best and most anticipated days of the entire year!!!

The countdown began in April and as slow as the last week felt, it literally flew by! 6th and 7th grade were so so good to us! We loved our teachers and the boys worked hard in their school work and at being good decision makers.

As these boys get older, and enter the teenage years, making the right decision has not only become harder, but has also become more important. I do my very best to have the hard conversions, being transparent and open, as I guide them 'onward and upward'. Micah and I try and set the bar for these boys high, knowing that mistakes will be made, but that we will always push them to do better and be better.

We still lay with the boys at bedtime and pray together. They may seem a bit old for this routine,  but to this day, it is the most important and cherished part of my day. It is during this quiet time together that they ask the hard questions, that they share the things that are bothering them, that I get a glimpse into their hearts when they pray out loud.  They have such kind little hearts and truly want to do right in God's eyes. If I do nothing else as a parent, I hope I can continue to nurture this deep desire in them to please God always.

I love these boys and I love watching them grown. This school year has made me so proud of them in a million different ways! Now, it's time to reap the benefits of the year's hard work, with sunshine, friends and soaking up the summer fun!

First Day of School 2022...

I don't think any of us were really ready to say good-bye to Summer!

However, I love me a good routine and I know the boys were excited to see all their friends on a daily basis, so we all embraced the start of school! I was especially happy to have the boys on one campus where I only had one set of campus events to keep track of and one pick-up/drop-off location each day!

We will be doing quite a bit of carpooling this year,  so Roen was pretty excited to get to walk into classes on the first day with one of his best buds!

Meet the Teacher & Wildcats...

Meet The Teacher looked a bit different this year! Instead of being at the elementary or being at two different campuses, this year, both my boys are at the middle school. We picked up schedules and off we went, first to the 6th grade hall and then over to Remi's hall for 7th graders.

There were lots of familiar faces, a new set of teacher faces, lots of excitement at having classes with friends and two boys who were just a tad irritated that I made them wear collared shirts. After we successfully made it to every classroom, the boys changed into Wildcat gear and we headed over to the football field for Meet The Wildcats!

I always love seeing our community come together to celebrate our upcoming varsity athletes! The boys love running around with back-to-school excitement, I got to help out with booster club for the first time and we even came home with a few extras for a last summer sleepover!

First Day of School 2021-2022...

I can't believe these boys are now 5th & 6th Graders! They will be at different campuses this year, which makes drop off and pick-up a little bit more tricky, but we are figuring that out. Both boys came home with smiles and great things to say! The first week is always pretty fun getting back into a routine, before the nitty gritty sets in!

Remi thinks his science class will be one of his most favorites! He is getting to continue his Dyslexia classes this year, and he say he loves his Dyslexia teacher. I think more than anything, I am thankful for this decompressing and safe time during his day. He has this class with just two other students and it comes in the morning right after math and science.

I got this cute picture of Roen sent to me during his first day and Roen came home super excited about the tall tower they got to build! It doesn't take much make Roen smile and getting to be with his friends is probably the best part of school for him!

I am so excited to see what this year holds for the boys and to see all the ways they grow! It's going to be great!

Spring School Pictures 2021...

Nothing better than a good ole school picture... especially when it's in front of a cheesy lemonade stand!
These boys did a lot of growing this year, and Remi especially is looking very tall these days! I am so proud of my handsome boys and the little gentlemen they are becoming!

Fall School Pictures...

These handsome boys are growing up! They both are a little fuzzy around the edges and needed haircuts in these pictures, but I love them even so!

This was their pictures from last Fall- they sure have grown! {Click Here}

The First Day of School 2020...

Wednesday, was the boy's First Day of School! I officially have a 4th Grader and a 5th Grader! This is Remi's last year of elementary school and that just happened a little too fast for this momma!

We woke up the earliest we have in about 5 months, I made a big breakfast, the boys scarfed it down, and we had a pretty wonderful morning!

Both boys met their teachers virtually on Monday and they were pretty excited!

Roen got the same teacher Remi had last year, which is exactly what we were all hoping for. This is the teacher that helped Remi soar last year, a rockstar when it comes to making sure students get their accommodations and loves math and science as much as my boys do! She is pretty amazing! Not only that, Roen ended up getting one of his very best friends in class, which was icing on the cake!

As a 5th Grader, Remi will have 4 teachers, so even though he does have a homeroom teacher, he will spend time with them all. We received teacher letters on Monday and after reading through and seeing that Mr. Wallace loves building, the Texas Rangers and woodworking, we realized Remi being in his homeroom class would be a perfect fit!

So far, both boys have come home with smiles and a million things to tell me!

Remi thinks his Science teacher is the bomb and couldn't wait to tell me all about the neat experiments they would get to do this year! He has two geckos and a ginny pig as class pets, which has had him looking forward to meeting Mrs. Wright since he spotted these critters in her room last year! This boy has a love for math and science that runs deep- which makes sense that he has already declared that he is going to love his math and science teachers!

Roen has a bearded dragon and two turtles as class pets, which has his turtle heart in heaven! He loves to come home telling me all about the naughty students in his class and what they did. He is pretty quiet in the classroom, so he is often sat by students who are not! As far as school goes, Roen prefers math and science, but really, this guy is all about PE and recess. He loves being active and some good competition!

The boys have literally talked my ear off from the minute they get in the car and fight over who gets to talk next! I love that they still get excited to talk to me and though I miss having the these boys home with me dearly, nothing beats reconnecting with classmates after a very long and weird summer!
