We kicked off June with a NTJGT tournament right here in our lake community! Nothing better than being in your own carts and on your home course!
Roen tied for 5th with a 75, and Remi ended the day with an 86. Not too bad from either boy!
Promptly followed by cereal and a swim, of course!

This is one of my other favorite courses in this tour! It is out in the middle of nowhere and so pretty in that, small town, rustic sort of way! This was also the very last tournament with this summer tour.
Both boys played pretty good and walked away with another 1st place! Each tournament they earned points based on how they played, and both boys also walked away League Champion of their age group. I was pretty proud of them both!

Toward the end of July, the boys got play at the Gainesville course. This is always nice because it means we aren't having to get up so early! It also meant, way more kids that they go to school with signed up to play in this tournament.
Both boys played GREAT and placed 1st!

This was one of the more fun tournaments of the summer, for sure!
This tournament had us way over in Mineral Wells! Because it is such a trek, we stayed the night before to make our super early tee times a bit easier.
Roen walked away with a 1st Place medal and Remi with 2nd. These tournaments are all solo, so it's a bit of a learning curve for Roen who is used to having Micah right by his side. He may not be scoring as well as he would like, but it sure is good for them both to gain this independence.... especially Remi with HS golf just weeks away!

This tournament, both boys came away with a 1st place medal!
Roen had a pretty good round, shooting in the 70's. There happened to be a lot of beginners in Remi's age bracket, so even though he placed, he was not real happy with his score. He definitely struggled, but we all ended with smiles and it was another beautiful day on the course!

Every summer, the boys participate in the North Texas Junior Golf Tour. This little tour is super laid-back with all levels of competition. I love tournaments like this, where there is little stress and the boys can just go out and play. This was the first tournament of the summer and both boys placed!
I am so proud of Remi! He placed 2nd in the 14 age group, shooting an 86. For Remi, shooting in the mid-80's consistently is right were he should be! Slowly but surely, we are seeing him with lower scores, handling pressure better and gaining confidence. Honestly, this tour is perfect for him, where he isn't killing his competition, but is still finding some success. He also really loves not having a caddy, which isn't allowed in this tour.
Roen played ok, shooting an 82. He did come home with 1st place in the 13 age group, but really, for him, should be shooting in the mid-70's. He had a whole slew of his buddies that played in this as well, so that was half the fun for him!
Overall, it was the perfect way to kick-off summer golf and I'm proud of how far both the boys have come on the course!
This tournament was in our hometown! Although it is not a course we play often, the boys have played it before and it was pretty nice being so close- especially with a 7:30 shotgun start!
Roen had a bit of a rough start, but ended up finding a turtle on the course which we always say is good luck. We also saw a slithering snake and that made me squeal!
Just like last tournament, Roen brought in 2nd and Remi held onto that 4th place. These tournaments may be super fun, but they are HOT and the boys get zero help... so regardless of their score, they are out there pushing through the heat and putting in the work!
This tournament, the boys had one of their best little friends along for the fun! Beckham jumped in with me and we had the best time watching the boys play! Roen has yet to beat his new golf buddy, Jagger who is an upcoming freshman, but he sure has had a blast getting to know him! Remi is still a few places behind Roen, but slowly gaining confidence in his game, one tournament at a time!

We loved getting to play this local course! Remi really had such a good round, but also had 2 really bad holes which cost him placing. Roen came home with a 2nd place medal and both boys had birdies in this round!
The coach that puts this tour on is a high school golf coach and is just wonderful. He is so good with the boys and puts his focus and energy into teaching these golfers how to use manners, self control and respect on the course. There is never a tournament that I don't see him pouring this wisdom into the kids.
In this tournament, he told the boys some of the best advice I've heard. He told them, "Never let the score on your card determine the kind of person you are." Man, oh man, if that isn't a lesson that almost brought tears to my eyes. Mentors like this are rare and I appreciate Coach Green so much!
