The Season of Quiet Days...

My time of quiet days are back now that the boys have started school again. Getting to remain a stay at home mom even though the boys have gone back to school continues to be a blessing in so many ways.

Micah's work schedule is pretty flexible and so it means we get a lot more one on one time with each other. He often comes with me to take the boys to school, if he is home early he comes with me to pick them up, we have lunch dates when we can and during the school year, we have a chance to get back to 'us'. The chaos of summer comes to an end and the quiet house becomes a place where we can visit without kids interuppting and run errands just the two of us.

I am free to bake cookies during the day for the boys to have after school, going to the grocery store becomes a daily outing again, I get to fix the boys eggs, bacon and pancakes in the mornings, my laundry pile is a lot smaller, and I get to talk to my mom every morning on the way home from dropping the boys off at school.

I get to volunteer at the school, bringing snacks, making copies for teachers, I get to have mornings with the boys where we can visit and not rush because no one cares what I look like at home, I get to cook meal requests, and the house is a tidy place everyone is happy to come home to.

I love waking up before everyone else, getting the breakfast table set just perfect, mugs of milk, orange juice, plates of scrambled and over-easy eggs, maple syrup for Remi, Aunt Jemima for Ro, I tip-toe around waiting to see who will be the first to wake. I love loading the boys up, visiting on the way to school- often times over obnoxious bickering in the back seat, running to the store to grab grocery requests, and finally getting to the pick-up line extra early so I can get my boys right away, loving to hear about their day... y'all, I love the school routine!

The school year has been off to an amazing start. We have had storms on the lake, after-school frog catching, golf with friends, our first Friday Night as Wildcats, kayaking after school, bike riding with friends, sleepovers and birthday parties. The boys have made new friends, learned their way around a new school and love their teachers.

These are the days, the very best days!

Sounds like a great way to slide into the fall season! The lake is so peaceful and serene. Thankful the boys are finding their new normal at school. It certainly helps on the home front. I have to admit that when I first saw the picture of the dogs, I thought oh my goodness they have another puppy! 😂. Take two revealed a little boys head...Roen? Anyway, I’ve been missing you! Thanks for stealing away and sharing what’s going on in your world. Love y’all bunches ❤️🤗
