The One That Got Away by Bethany Chase
I snagged up this book after I read One Night At The Lake by the same author. I loved that book so much, that I immediately got on Amazon and got this one. This book did not grab me right away like her previous novel did. In fact, it wans't until exactly page 187 that I got the 'I can't put this down' feeling. From there on out I loved this book to pieces! In fact, I actually loved the two main characters better in this book- the storyline just didn't grab me as quickly! A slow start, but a great read!
All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin
Very rarely do I ever come across a book that I just don't really like. Well, this was one of those rare occassions. I have read quite a few books by this author and loved them! This is one of her most recent novels and I couldn't wait to pick it up. Overall, the story just brought me down. I hated the things that were happening and I really didn't like the ending. Though, there honestly wasn't a way for the book to be finished up in a way that I would have liked. It took on serious topics, threw them all into one storyline- almost in a flippant way- and then nothing was resolved in the end. I was pretty disappointed in this book- I just needed more feel good.
Southern Side of Paradise by Kristy Woodson Harvey
This book was a gift for my birthday from my sister. Although this is actually #3 in a series, it did just fine to read it as a stand alone. The author's style took a bit getting used to for me- she felt a bit all over the place at times and I would find myself flipping back to make sure I hadn't skipped a page. However, this story was so so good. The story centers around 3 sisters and their mother. We get to journey through tragedy, long-lost loves, marriage, children, parenting with these southern gems. The story is told from the mother's and the youngest daughter's perspective. I fell in love with all of these women. What a wonderful job the author did of not making things to 'pretty', instead giving this story a realistic take on relationships between mother, daughter and sister. I loved this book and at some point, I'd love to go back and read the first two in this series as well.

Write this down....I’ve actually read 2 of the 3 books...a record accomplishment for me 😂
I loved The One that Got Away and liked All We Ever Wanted. I would agree the ending of All We Ever Wanted didn’t give closure or at least not what I wanted. I’ll have the get the third book. Thanks so much for always sharing your reads. I have to take a reading break and get some painting done. 😉
Love you!
