What a blessing this time of uncertainty has been.
This virus that is causing so much sickness, death, scare and economy downfall is lined with an enourmous amount of silver. If you can see past all of the 'what ifs' and 'how comes', you can see that we have been given the gift of time. Time to rest, time to cook, time to play, time to read, time to be with your children.
The boys have spent a lot of time outdoors- especially fishing! They have taken out the kayak, they went on a day trip to Lake Texoma, Micah taught Remi how to clean, filet and package his catches, Remi has been perfecting his cast net skills and he even organized his tackle box one afternoon. We have had sunny days, we have had windy days, we have had stormy days and even a few cold days, but they all seem to run together into one moment in time where we have all been forced to push the pause button, and it has been glorious!
We have had church at home, we have cooked constantly, we have done art, Remi has spent countless hours in his workshop and we have totally and completely thrown schedules out the window! No longer being a slave to deadlines and time, has been freeing in the most refreshing way!
Remi built his very own table saw and sander
One afternoon, the boys loaded up on the kayaks, and went across the lake to the dam. They were able to hop on a giant buoy where they fished the afternoon away.
Someone from our community snapped this picture as she was crossing the dam (I saw it posted on FB several days later) and titled this picture Priceless. I have to say, seeing the boys outside, having the time to just be free to explore and soak up the sun, this is what this time has been for us. It has been fresh air, it has been time for friendships, it has been about taking advantage of this gift we have been given, loving the time and focusing on the positive!
We aren't pouring fear into our boys, we aren't locking our doors from the outside world, we aren't engaging in the chaos that has shadowed the world. We are being careful, knowing we have or will all be exposed at some point, but instead choosing to live life to the fullest, leaving the worries behind and knowing that the time to worry may come knocking any day. We won't waste these days we have been given. I will smile when I look out the window and see the boys running bases in a neighborhood baseball game, I will love when the boys run in breathless from yet another backyard football game, I will watch them hop on the kayak, paddling to the middle of the lake and know that they too, are enjoying this gift of time.
Are we careful? Absolutely.
Are we washing our hands more frequently? As best we can.
Are we keeping the boys informed about what's going on? We always do.
Are we praying? Non-stop.
This is out of everyone's control. Hiding away, stockpiling, washing your hands every 20 minutes, reading every article that pops up on your feed- though it be our attempt, it is not control. We will pray, we will be smart and we will give it to God, because this was a burden He never intended for us to try and carry.

I believe you have found the calm in the storm! Loved reading this post...one I will re-read numerous times. Thanks for sharing such a profound message...we have all been changed during this chaos. I pray that people find the silver lining and come out of this just a little bit stronger than they thought they were. I want to share this short excerpt from Raitman Art Gallery, as I think a lot of us are blessed to know this to be true...”Home is more than a place. It is a feeling, it is comfort, it is our escape, our place of peace.”
Many people are having time to enjoy HOME ❤️ Keep posting...love y’all bunches!!
