Several nights ago, we had a special little evening on the lake, that was special for really no particular reason at all. It was just a bunch of little happenings that weren't planned, but ended up making a sweet little family night.
It started out like this. It was hot- like volcano lava on my body, hot, so I hopped in the lake for a little swim and then lounged, water-side, right on the edge of our little fishing dock for a sunset mimosa and some long overdue reading.
It wasn't long until I was found by the boys. They came over several times to say hi, see what I was doing, and eventually, I ended up getting a sweet little sunset serenade of Country Roads from Roen. He loves strumming on his ukulele and I love when he plays for me!
After we had dinner, Micah and the boys took out the left over chicken to do a bit of bedtime fishing. Micah and Remi fished while Roen used bread and a net to catch turtles.
The boys and I are smack dab in the middle of a good RL Stine book (we are suckers for a good scary, mystery) and I didn't want to lose a night of reading. So, I read to the boys out on the dock while they fished. Something about spooky marionettes coming to life as the night crept in, made the story even better in a 'ghost story at night' kind of way!
These little moments are what mean the very most to my mamma heart- watching the boys fish, sunsets on the water, looking forward to bedtime stories together, it's the little things that truly make the very best memories!
