With the Covid lingering around however, the camp got converted into virtual online classes. Some camps couldn't be converted into a virtual setting (like robotics), so those camp kids were given virtual classes in an area as close as they could get. This put Remi into Game Coding.
Like most kids, Remi loves his fair share of Minecraft and Fortnite, so he was pretty excited. However, if you have ever done any amount of coding, you know it is very meticulous, dealing with letters, numbers, symbols and perfect spacing. This was a HUGE challenge for Remi. In fact, when it came time to type in coding, I hopped on the computer and did it for him. In reality, there is no way he could have typed it all in that format- it would have taken him much longer than the amount of time he had. This is one of those times that his Dyslexia showed it's ugly side.
But, there was a magical moment too.
They learned how to work in a program called Piskel, to draw and create characters for their game. Remi not only loved this portion, but excelled, making many different characters. As I sat there and watched him, I saw him forming a love for the very thing I am so passionate about. The boys are always following right in Micah's footsteps with the activities they enjoy, but for this one little moment, I got to see a little bit of myself in Remi. It was incredible watching him on my computer creating, drawing and discovering a love for graphic design!
Of course, Remi had a little spectator! Roen is always so enthralled by the things Remi does...

Of course I was pretty bummed that y’all didn’t get to come visit for a week, but it looks like the camp was a success. I’m glad Remi enjoyed the graphics portion. He made some cool characters. In looking at the last picture I thought you got confused and typed Roen when it should have been Little Lady....I put my Where’s Waldo skills to work and found Roen 😂. He was camouflaged!
