The next day was crammed packed full of all things spooky fun!
We started off with breakfast right on Essex street at the most highly recommended Gulu-Gulu. They don't take reservations so we knew we might run into a wait but, lucky us, no one wanted to sit outside, so we were able to snag patio seats upon arrival! We had apple cider mimosas, Belgian waffles and enjoyed every minute of our crisp fall morning, having a front row to seat to little Salem waking up for the day!
After breakfast, we had witch pictures scheduled! I think I was most excited about this, but it turned out to be so much fun! They had hundreds of dresses, hats, props... and we got to choose it all! We laughed the entire time, just living up our adult dress-up session!
From here, we had a haunted ghost tour scheduled. Y'all, it was soooo boring. I thought he was going to take us to cemeteries and haunted buildings where we could see ghosts and hear spooky sounds. He did not do any of that. In fact, he walked us around to random places saying they might be haunted- basically a history lesson on how people died. Anyways, about 15 minutes in and we quietly 'let our group get so far in front of us' that we weren't ever able to find them. Haha!!
After the walking ghost 'tour', we went on with our day, taking fall foliage pictures, shopping, visiting The Witch House, Salem's First Church, The Rope's Mansion and Max & Danny's House from Hocus Pocus. Who knew that Max & Danny's house was on the water?! Plus while we were there, we got to see a real live proposal! The ONE store I HAD to visit was the Wicked Good Books bookstore, where I got to wander to my heart's content and snagged a really good Stephen King book! It was a lot of walking, but it was such a fun day of seeing all of Salem!
For dinner, we had reservations at Turner's. This place also came highly recommended and was so good! After dinner, we stopped in the hopping O'Neill's where we very quickly realized we were by far the oldest people in there. Throw in the fact that I had chosen to wear my little apple sweater layered over my peter pan collared denim shirt, and well, it looked like I was everyone's mom, hahaha! Needless to say, we scooted on out of there pretty quickly and instead hit up the Salem Village Tavern for drinks before making our way back to the room.
It was a day of non-stop walking, exploring and fun! And we had successfully spotted all of the Hocus Pocus sites and swooned over all of the porches decorated for Halloween!
*The Michael Myers is actually just painted on the double door and the statue is Samantha from Bewitched!
