Tulum, A Thanksgiving Getaway...

We finally took our summer vacation!

We were all missing our Caribbean waters this summer, but I think I may have loved the beach in November even more!  It was a bit quieter, a little more needed and we still came back with sun-kissed skin and a handful of seashells!

We were all over the place when deciding where to go, but finally landed on Tulum! This is a destination we have talked about before, and were so excited to get a taste of the Yucatan Peninsula!

Micah actually gets the credit for stumbling upon our resort, Casa Malca. Not only was it once one of Pablo Escobar's many abodes, but it was absolutely magnificent! Think art collector, moody luxury, old world chandeliers hanging from the trees, velvet textiles, just enough peeling and cracking to hint at intentional character, and all with the backdrop of glittering turquoise waters. I have never really seen anything like it, and that is truly the beauty of travel, discovering little treasures of magic, not a single experience exactly like the other and leaving me certain every adventure tops the one before!

The day we arrived, we did a little resort tour, and got ready for dinner! We had reservations at the resort restaurant Philosophy. The food was delicious, the stroll back to the room invigorating, the moon shinning over the waves, narrow walkways cut into the rainforest, almost like I was walking through one of my favorite novels!

*Side note: if you ever get the chance to ride by the boys on the airplane, I'd take a hard pass. Remi is so willy nilly in his seat that he is almost always earning side glares from the person in front on him by mid-flight. Roen, well, lets just say it is never long before he is looking over at me with that smirk, giving a slight wave in front of his nose. The altitude gives him an extra boost of gas and he has zero problem releasing the pressure as needed! Y'all, they have zero manners and I KNOW I taught them better. If they aren't fighting, then they are loving each other's company in the worst of ways! And I'm either horrified or hiding my face because I can't take any of it serious enough to quit laughing!
