Once we arrived at the cabin, got all the bags and groceries unloaded, we headed over to the ski shop to get our gear rented. This always seems to be a hassle- the kids dying to play in the snow, trying on boots, carrying skis and poles and all with 12 people... I was very happy to get our equipment and get back to the cabin!
Once we got back, the kids wasted no time throwing on ski boots, mittens, coats and getting knee-deep in the snowy forest! The first thing on their agenda was making snow forts for a snowball fight.
It wasn't long before the deer came up for their evening snack- this is one of the boy's favoarite parts of the trip! They always come and when they do, it is grabbing crackers, cheetos, oatmeal cream pies- whatever you can find, as fast as you can and seeing if you can get the deer to eat out of your hand. The kids are always busting with excitement and so compressing all that energy to keep the deer from getting scared can be a bit tricky.
After their deer encounters, the boys decided they wanted to make an animal trap with rope. Remi made a tricky little knot that they hoped an animal would get its foot caught in and then would tighten when pulled. They covered it all in snow and though they never caught an animal, they sure had fun dreaming that they would!
After the sun went down, the kids came in to thaw, we made tacos and margaritas, we let the kids have a bit of iPad time and then we snuggled them up in bed, where we had an adult evening with more margaritas and Mexican Train!

High fives for being the masters of organized chaos! I can’t imagine getting 12 people outfitted for skiing. The rewards are great! I love all the pictures of the kids playing in the snow and feeding the deer. A little slice of heaven ❤️
Love y’all bunches!
