This Spring Break has been a bit overshadowed by the Coronavirus.
There was definitely talk of us cancelling our annual Angelfire Ski trip- we didn't want to get up there and get stuck in a lockdown, or have the mountain close before we could get any skiing in and we definitely didn't want to help the spread of the virus.
However, we knew we would be staying in a family cabin with only our families and considering the gloves, masks, goggles and layers of clothing required to ski, we felt it was a relatively safe gamble we were all willing to make. We also knew that there was no way of predicting what we would be coming home to, and so we left Friday after school, driving half way, all the while knowing this would very likely be our last hurrah for a very long time.
We didn't get on the road quite as quickly as we hoped. While loading up, Remi and Roen ended up getting the keys locked in the van and so while we waited for the locksmith, the guys tried their best to unlock the vehicle, with no luck and dripping in the rain. When we finally got into the van, we made our rounds, picking everyone up and we were all so very happy to be on the road, headed to the fresh mountain air!
We drove to Clarendon the first night and woke up the next morning to drive the rest of the way to NM. We were a bit fearful the small grocery store in AF would be bought out, and so we stopped in Dalhart on our way up to stock up on food for the cabin while we were there...
Stay tuned for the rest of our trip and more pictures to come!
