Easter Morning...

The boys woke up early Sunday morning ready to check out their Easter Bunny goodies.

They got lots of their favorite sweets- Milky Ways, War Head candies, cotton candy, Nutella, bubble gum, and Tic Tacs. Remi got a NASA documentary and a book called Junk Drawer Engineering. Roen got a sea turtle book and a documentary about volcanoes and tornadoes. They got a new outfit, a Nee-Doh squishy ball, a back scrubber and lots of other treats they were excited about!

After checking out their baskets, they noticed that the Easter Bunny had hidden all their dyed eggs in the kitchen. So, they had a short little egg hunt, and then I made the boys breakfast before we all sat down for a couch-side church service.

Remi was super excited to try his new Maple Syrup the Easter Bunny left in his basket

We ended our day with an early dinner of prime rib, ham, mashed potatoes, squash, mac-n-cheese, rolls and banana pudding. We let the kids play and we sat on the back porch watching the boats pass by.

It was a perfect little Easter in seclusion, and though it was not our traditional Easter, it was even better in many ways.

As we all snuggled on the couch in our pajamas, Roen laid his head in my lap. Our worship team was singing Old Rugged Cross and my eyes filled with tears, because that song always reminds me of my Pa. Remi chose that exact moment to reach over and grab my hand. It was one of those moments that I could feel my cup running over. The intimacy of worshipping with just us four, the boys asking questions, wanting to understand, us pausing, discussing... well, it just doesn't get any better for me.

These days have brought us all back the basics of life- not knowing what tomorrow holds, having nothing steady to hold onto except our faith and those that we love. It's a feeling we are not very used to, but I am realizing that life can be even sweeter when it's simple.
