Well, we have officially finished up our first two weeks of school from home and entered into weeks 3-4. We seem to all still be enjoying our laid back schedule that allows breaks when we need them and a helping hand from mom. We do all of their work together. There has not been a single day that they have had to work independently and though that may not work for all, it has been wonderful for us.
I am doing my very best to create a learning atmosphere that matches the needs of my boys. With both of them being on a 504, this is my opportunity to give them the one-on-one they need. I know what their little minds can easily handle and when we get to an area where they need intervention, I do my best to hop right in, filling the gap for them.
We have days where we are doing our best to just check off boxes, we have days where we just don't want to, there have been days with bad attitudes, and then, we have had those days where we love learning together. Those are the days I am holding onto, and at the end of all of this, those are the days I want to remember!
Journal writing is hard and touching the paper is icky- Roen
Roen learning about the Solar System
Roen reciting his journal writing about turtles in his turtle costume
Remi is such an old man in his robe and cup of coffee
And in case you are wondering, this Super Dad mug that Remi bought Micah for Christmas several years ago, is his favorite mug to use
Both boys have lessons online that they watch several times a week. Roen's teacher has done science and math to help with learning new material. Remi's reading teacher is reading a chapter every few days to his class and he also has the option to watch science videos online- which he LOVES!
Roen's teacher using a globe to help students learn about the Earth and sun
Roen learning about perimeters in math
Roen doing a Zoom Meeting scavenger hunt- they had to find stuffed animals and coins. Remi couldn't resist a chance to show off his collection and ended up going and getting his coin collection out!
Remi's 1st Zoom meeting- he loved it!
Art, Music & PE continue to be favorites. Micah loves taking the boys out to be active and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE sitting down with the boys and doing art!
Doodle watercoloring with complimentary colors (Art)
For music, each boy got to pick out an instrumental composition to illustrate as they listened. Remi went with a patriotic theme...
...and Roen went with this fun little rodeo tune! (I did help the boys draw these, but they traced and painted themselves)
In Science, these last weeks of school, Roen is getting to grow a Mammoth Sunflower! He has had a blast waking up every morning to see how much his little seeds have grown!

**Roen has a great big, giant love for all things turtles. Not only does he have two pet turtles- Itty and I Love Turtles- but he has pretty much anything else you can think of in turtle- house shoes, socks, pajama pants, books, documentaries, shirts, blankets... it goes on and on. Well, this spring, he was supposed to be a turtle in his 3rd grade musical. Since that is not happening, he has been wearing his musical costume around for fun. One evening, he claimed it felt like he was wearing a blanket and watched a whole movie wearing his turtle costume. Now, he has decided this will be his Halloween costume as well. I just felt like I needed to explain why he is wearing a turtle blanket and costume in some of these pictures, lol!**

I am so proud of y’all. These boys are thriving in uncharted waters. Congratulations to you and Micah for calming these storms and leading the way for the boys. Teamwork at it’s finest. I love all the pictures and of course Roen looks like the happiest turtle ever. It does look really cozy. And “old man” Remi in his robe drinking coffee...priceless. Although the Coronavirus has caused many hardships in everyone’s life, I think someday we will all look back and realize that we gained some good from this slowdown! Keep on teaching little momma, give the PE coach a high five and know that the end is in sight! Summer is coming!!
As always...thanks for sharing! Love and hugs to y’all 😘 🙏
