The Last of Homeschooling...

Two Sunday's ago, on May 10th, the boys officially finished up their 3rd and 4th grade years! I never dreamed we wouldn't have all the end of the year activities, but in my own way, I didn't really miss it at all! Yes, the boys missed out on field day, the 3rd grade musical, and end of the year ceremonies, but we also got to finish school early, at our own pace, and take days off for hunting, camping and playing. The end of this year was a gift in so many ways!

Working with my boys, one on one, taught me so much about the way they learn. Their strengths, their weaknesses, it gave me a glimpse of what school is like for them. This is so important when it comes to me trying to help them and advocate for them- I got a chance to be up close and personal with their Dyslexia and how it affects their learning. I wouldn't have traded this time for anything in the world!

We were so blessed to have Anne here on weeks 5 & 6 to help us out with schoolwork! The boys loved working with her and I loved having an extra teacher to help me!

Roen still woke up with an aversion to the touch of paper from time to time. On this particular day, he put on some rubber gloves and cut the finger tips off- it seemed to do the trick!

Overall, Roen enjoyed Zoom meetings much more than Remi, but Remi enjoyed the online lessons more than Roen! The boys had a lot of Scholastic Science lessons and Remi absolutely loved the videos that correlated with them!

We finally transferred his Mammoth Sunflower to a larger pot, then into an even larger pot, and finally into the ground! Right now, it is standing at almost 2 feet high! Roen has loved watching his seed grow!

Day 11

Day 14

We were able to start music lessons back up a few weeks ago, so the boys were able to count their banjo/ukulele lessons and piano pieces for their music assignments. For art, we did water color landscapes and contrasting patterns which were both very fun!

Congratulations boys! I can only imagine how excited you all were to complete the last assignment. Perfect day to wrap it up...Happy Mother’s Day to you! And you got to retire from teaching. Seriously though, I know you walked away from this with a lot of knowledge that will help the boys in the next year(s). Super proud of all of you! Enjoy your summer time 😎
P.S.- Did Little Lady pass on to the next level? She’s so cute!! Love y’all bunches!
