This was supposed to be our day of fishing. Fishing is always at the top of Micah and Remi's list, so we had some pretty disappointed fisherman when our outing got canceled. There was a tropical storm rolling in, which ended up knocking us out of getting to swim in the ocean the rest of our trip.
Despite plans having to be changed, the kids were able to to get in knee deep and did a great job of entertaining themselves with sandcastle building and net hunting. Remi ended up discovering a brand new little critter that we had never seen. According to the locals, they are called Sand Fleas. The boys had the very best time catching dozens of these little crustaceans! They also caught quite a few itty bitty jellyfish that had purple and pink centers- they were very pretty and very invisible in the water! If you were to ask Remi, the best catch of the trip was his jellyfish that was about the size of your fist- it was pretty cool!
To me, this was a beach day in the purest form! Our family of four camped out at the beach all day, while the others went back and forth for pool breaks. Remi and I were the last of our group to leave the beach- he wasn't quite ready to quit hunting critters, so I grabbed a net and together we filled up an entire water bottle full of sand fleas. I am never really ready to end a day at the beach either, and so I guess Remi and I are pretty similar in that way! Remi and Roen had lots of brother time on this day and I loved sitting back and watching them play together.
This day was simply perfect!
We ended our day at what turned out to be my favorite restaurant of the trip- Louisiana Lagniappe. The lobster ragoon was to die for! If we ever find ourselves in Destin again, this will be dinner must!

Day 4 would have been perfect in my books! Speaking of books...hope you had one with you! The sand there is so white. Maybe the storm looming in the background made it look whiter, but it’s really pretty. Not sure about those sand fleas 😳. The boys look like they worked well as a team. Remi is definitely a critter catcher and a brave one at that. The lobster sounds delicious. Staying tuned....the week is flying by!
Love y’all!
