Destin, Our Last Day...

I always end our beach trips with no plans- just the sand the ocean. We gotta soak in the last little bit, enjoying every minute that will have to last us until next summer.

We tried to move our fishing trip to this day, but the waters were still too wild. We had also planned to parasail on our last day, but that was nixed too. There was still no swimming, but we weren't complaining about one last day on the beach with no plans but dinner. The boys also got to spend some time with one of their very best buds who just happen to be staying just a few minutes down the beach!

For dinner, we went to a place called Boshamps. This place was awesome and was a close second to Louisiana Lagniappe for me. Out back was a huge multi-level patio that over looks the harbor. The kids ran around looking at the boats and spotting crab in the water. We all loved Boshamps!

Remi is such a boy! He has grown to hate taking pictures and I am like a one man show paparazzi! I had no idea he made this face until later when I was going through pictures. Well, I am posting it, because that is what he gets!

After dinner, we went over to little ice cream shop that serves rolled ice cream. I have never had ice cream in rolls like this, but it was pretty delicious! While we were out, we popped into a few other stores to grab last minute souvenirs! I can't think of a better way to end a trip than with ice cream and shopping!

The next morning, Roen and I were the first up and spent some time out on the patio visiting while I had a cup of hot tea. This little booger makes life pretty darn great...

We found this sea turtle hat at one of the shops while we were there, and he was pretty proud of it!

We had storms, canceled plans, rough waters, Covid, mask wearing on the airplane, and it definitely wasn't the Bahamas, but this trip is full of some pretty amazing memories with our favorite crew.

Florida is considered a hot spot for the Covid right now and though there was risk in going, there in no part of me that would have skipped out on this trip! One day, it will be about girls, walking the beach with friends, straying from the adults... my years of them building sandcastles, catching critters, drinking Shirley Temples, these summers are numbered. We are not gauranteed next summer or another beach trip and so, for me, the adventure outweighed the risk. These days of people filling us with fear have been strange, and it is my hope that the boys will always remember that no matter what, life doesn't stop and if you don't take opportunity when it comes you miss out on some pretty awesome experiences.

So long beach trip 2020... it was worth it!

Well here I am at the ninth hour putting in my two cents! I guess I knew this would be a wrap for the Florida vacay, so I waited! I agree this wasn’t the Bahamas but from my perspective this was an absolutely wonderful destination...Destin!! Sorry I couldn’t resistπŸ˜‚. Judging from the pictures the last day was another fun filled adventure. The rolled ice cream looks delicious. And I must say I loved Remi’s face in the family picture πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.
