Turks & Caicos Day Three...

Day 3 was our day of adventure out on the great big ocean blue!

We met up with Captain Claud, First Mate Robbins and Deck Hand Cedrick in Bight Park on Grace Bay. We loaded up for the day and set sail to some of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean! Our first stop was the TCI barrier reef. This barrier reef is right off Grace Bay and is the 3rd largest in the world! We put on our snorkels, I took Remi, Micah took Roen and we explored some of the prettiest reef in the world! We saw fish with neon stripes, fish with shimmering mermaid scales, reef that looked like cauliflower brains and deep, dark nook and crannies that Remi liked to dive down into for a closer look! I would say of everything we do, snorkeling is a family favorite!

After snorkeling, we went to one of most favorite places in Turks, Iguana Island! The boys have been looking forward to visiting these reptiles ever since we booked our trip this Spring! This time, Cedrick brought some snacks for us to feed these critters! The minute you step foot into the bushes, iguanas come out from every angle! If you are fearful of lizards, this is a nightmare, but if you are a 10 and 11 year old boy, this is what dreams are made of! They both got bit a lot feeding these guys and of course, the ultimate goal was to get the big ole 'grandpa' lizard to eat out of their hands. Once we ran out of snacks to feed and the iguanas lost interest, we headed over to the other side of the island and one of my personal favorites, Half Moon Bay. This gave the boys many opportunities to chase the iguanas they saw along the way!

After soaking up the secluded beauty of Half Moon Bay and what feels like your very own ocean swimming pool, we loaded back up and headed over to a new island for us. Fort George proved to be nothing short of breathtaking and probably one of my favorite spots of the entire trip! Pictures can't do this place just and neither will words! There was a thin strip of sand that jutted out into the water that I immediately walked to the very tip of. I sat down and just relished every little drop of beauty this place had to offer- there was no way I would forget any part of this island. While we explored, the boys snorkeled and our crew lit up the bbq pit for lunch. We had fish, chicken, corn and rice- it was true island style food, right off the shore and was enjoyed with our feet in the sand!

From Fort George, we loaded back up and headed over to yet another new spot called Shell Island! Here we found giant pink seashells and lots of sand dollars. The sand dollars that had already turned white, we gathered up and were able to take with us! I am a sucker for finding treasures like these, so actually coming back to the boat was not something any of us wanted to do! In fact, when we realized our entire day had somehow passed, I think we were all a bit sad to say good-bye to our crew and the adventures!

Excursion day will always be my favorite. It is a way to enjoy the water away from the shore,  and explore remote islands that can't be visited except by boat! For me, these trips are all about exploring and adventure and that is exactly what this day was for us all!

You literally cannot keep these boys away from the sand and salty waters, so the minute we got home, I grabbed some rum punch and back down to the beach we went! These boys are so fun to beach with! Their love for embracing every piece they can is so contagiously fun!

Well it is absolutely breathtaking, but if someone left me on an island with all those reptiles….well let’s just say it would not have ended well 😂. Y’all are so adventurous and actually make it look/sound fun, but it would have been a pool day for me. The boys did some major digging and really awesome handstands 👏🏻👏🏻 What a trip…bring on day 4! Thanks for sharing…love y’all bunches!
