The last day, it was just Taryn and I. Brittney had a conference she had to attend, so she headed out super early that morning!
We started our day by taking a different little walking route to town where we stumbled upon a whole other set of shops and picture-worthy sites! We had reservations at the Jolie Tea Company for a morning brunch tea party, so we visited the shops later. This, hands down, was my most favorite thing we did! It was the most beautiful, frilly, pastel rainbowy place I've ever seen! They even had a two-page tea menu! We had little ham sandwiches, strawberry tarts, cream swans, I sipped the Sugar Plum Fairy black tea and Taryn had the Coco Chanel. It was all so prim and proper and I enjoyed every single second! After brunch, I made my happy little self over to the Blending Bar, where I got to custom make my very own loose leaf tea batch. I did a vanilla black tea with lemon & orange peel, topped off with pink and white petals. In order to purchase your tea, you had to name it, so my special little batched was called Citrus Witch. It was all so much fun I just couldn't believe it! I also had them pull dozens of teas off the shelf to smell and ended up taking home all kinds of loose leaf for my personal stash. I think we may have been in there for over 2 hours, haha!
I left our tea adventure, feeling just like a brunette version of Alice, and was on cloud 9 for the rest of the day! We went to the Salem Witch Village area where we got to see the Salem cemetery, witch memorial and more fun shops! We shopped for quite a good bit until we made our way back over to Gulu- Gulu where we FINALLY found pumpkin cheescake (they were sold out all over town), which we split while sipping on apple cider mimosas!
For dinner, we went to a yummy little Italian restaurant called Antique Table. It was just a few blocks off of the main area of which we had been all weekend, but somehow, upon leaving, we got turned around. And by turned around, I mean we ended up in an area that had us spooked and going straight back to the restaurant. Which.... was closed! Thankfully, they opened back up for us and let us wait inside (it was very cold) until our Uber arrived. We stopped by the Village Tavern one last time before we headed back the room for a little Netflix until we couldn't keep our eyes open!
Salem was absolutely magical! If I make it back, I would probably stay a little closer to the action - we were about a 25 minutes walk from town, which wasn't a problem until we had a spell of cold weather blow in! One thing that surprised me was how good the food was. A lot of tourists towns have blah food, but literally everything we ate was delicious! The other thing that I loved was the hospitality! Everyone seemed so happy to have their sidewalks and shops crowed with tourist traffic!
In a nutshell, Salem was like a little historic piece of pumpkin spice foliage with a side of spooky cobblestone deliciousness!
