12 Year Well Check-Up...

Last week, Remi finally had his 12 year old well visit. All checked out well and for that I am always grateful! Even his weight gain was great, which has proved to be tricky due to his medication. 

I love our pediatrician and one of my favorite things is the way he talk to the boys. He asks questions, he jokes, he prods and really gets a feel for their personalities. One of the things he asked Remi was what he wanted to be when he grew up, all while looking in ears, looking at eyes, carrying on with his his check-up. When Remi answered, he stopped what he was doing,  looked Remi in the eye and said "Wow, that is really cool!" I don't think it was a typical 12 year old response. Remi very confidently looked at Dr. Goff, and said, "I want to be an engineer for NASA." 

I look back on this picture Remi drew when he was 6 years old, of a rocket blasting off in space, of him as an astronaut, floating around in space and it makes me smile to know that 6 years later, he is still chasing those ambitious dreams!

9 Year Well Visit...

Monday, Remi had his 9 Year Well Visit. Besides having some poison ivy on his face, he checked out great! He weighs a whopping 66 pounds which puts him in the 59% and is 52 1/4 inches tall putting him in the 43%. I am always happy to get reports of healthy growing boys!

6 Year Well Visit...

Roen just had his 6 year check-up at the beginning of the month. Though his stats remain very close to what Remi was at six, he is still a teeny bit bigger.

Height: 45in (39%)
Weight: 46lbs 16oz (57%)

He checked out with a healthy report! Never for a moment, is this a blessing I take for granted!

7 Year Check-Up...

Tuesday, I pulled Remi out of school a bit early (which he loved) and took him for his 7 year old check-up. It is pretty good drive to his doctor's office, so I had snacks packed for him- he thought this was so fun! He ate up all his snacks while he did his homework. Sometimes a little one on one (even to the doctor's office) is just what everyone needs!! I rarely get Remi alone anymore and we had the best afternoon!!

He weighed in at 53 lbs (58%) and was 47.75 (42%) inches tall.

While we were there, he got a flu shot, a wart (on his finger) froze off and a great, healthy report!!

5 Year Well Check-Up...

Monday, Roen had his 5 year Well Check-Up. He did an eye test, a hearing test and weighed in at 41 lbs (52%) and 42 1/2 in tall (40%). At five, Remi weighed one pound more than Roen, but was half an inch shorter... exactly what I had predicted! More than anything, I am grateful for a healthy check-up, once again. Thank you God, for blessing us with health!

6 Year Check-Up...

Friday, Remi had his 6 year check-up. His eyes, ears and growth all looked great. He weighs 46lbs 8oz (53%) and is 44 3/4 inches tall (33%). Always grateful for the blessing of health!

4 Year Check-Up...

Recently, Roen had his 4 year check-up. All was well with our little dude. He weighed in at 38lbs (68%) and is 40 1/4in tall (48%). Roen continues to be several pounds heavier than Remi at this age and almost an in taller. Though they seem to extremely close in size, even now, I think Roen may eventually be a wee bit bigger than his big brother.

Here they are looking at tornado videos. This was the only way we could get them to behave... have I ever mentioned how extremely rambunctious my children are at the doctor's office?!

5 Year Doctor Visit...

Monday, Remi had his wellness visit. He is a perfectly healthy little boy and weighed in at 42lbs (60th percentile) and is 42 inches tall (31st percentile). He passed his seeing and hearing test, got the flu mist and was very relieved that it was Roen and not him that had to get the flu shot (because of Roen's asthma). Roen was a champ though, and didn't even blink an eye when he got the shot... all in all a great day... a healthy boy is a happy mom :)

3 Year Check-Up...

On Tuesday, Roen had his 3 yr wellness checkup. Out little RoRo weighed 33lbs (65%) and was 37.5 in tall (53%). This little booger is going to be quite a bit bigger than his big brother I think!

Remi's 4 Year Check-Up...

Monday Remi had his 4 yr wellness doctor visit. He took an eye test, a hearing test and got four shots. He had a great check-up and the doctor said his burn is looking great! I had Micah come with me because I thought I might need some help with both boys and the shots...I am glad I did. I don't know why my boys have to act like wild animals in the doctor's office!

Roen's Two Year Check Up...

On Monday, Roen went to his Two Year Wellness visit. He checked out pefecetly wieghing in at 27.2 lbs (40%) and 34.5 in tall (63%).





I dropped Remi off at Micah's office and it sure was a lot easier to wrangle one monkey rather than two! In fact, Roen played quietly and thoroughly enjoyed his one on one time with Momma!

At two years old, Remi was 27.1 pounds (38%) and 33 in tall (16%). So they are pretty close, but Roen seems to be a bit bigger than his big brother! However, Roen's head (47.5 cm) is a whole cenitmeter smaller than Remi's (48.5 cm) was at two years old!

Three Year Check-Up...

Today, Remi went to the Dr for his wellness check-up. He weighed 30.6 pounds (36%) and was 36 inches tall (17%). He did a hearing test, a picture identification test and took a nasal flu mist. He did great.

The only thing I brought up with the doctor was Remi's sleeping. I was curious about what the doctor would say. Every night, Remi goes to sleep in his own bed around 8:30/9:00. I lay with him until he falls asleep. Anywhere from about 2-4 hours after he falls asleep, he is up and by my bed. I either put him in bed with us to sleep the remainder of the night in our bed, or go lay with him in his bed until he falls back asleep...only to wake up again and again. Obviously, I usually end up putting him in our bed just so I can't get more sleep. ** side note, he naps GREAT! I do not lay with him until he falls asleep. I just give him a book, tuck him in and he is out.

Anyways, I told the doctor all this and he had some pretty good ideas. First of all, he said don't do for a child what he can do for himself. Meaning, don't lay with him while he falls asleep. He recommended either do this cold turkey or stay his room less each night until he can fall asleep on his own. He also said when he wakes up night to just go put him back in his bed and leave. Obviously, he will have several rough nights, but then hopefully will get the hang of it.

These things seem so common sense, but sometimes you just need to hear it from a doctor.

So here goes... tonight we will do this cold turkey. I'll let you know if we survive :)

18 Month Check-Up...

Today, Remi had his 18 month check-up. He weighs 23 pounds and is 32 inches tall. Both put him in the 30-35th percentile. He got his last immunization until kindergarten and didn't even cry! I was proud considering how acted in the waiting room. Let's just say every person in there probably thought my kid was on speed!

12 Month Check Up

Remi had his One Year Check Up on Thursday. He weighed in at 21.6 lbs and is 28.75 inches. This puts him in the 15th percentile in weight and 30th percentile in height. Still a little squirt!

This is the first time I didn't take a picture at his wellness exam...I guess at some point I have to stop taking my camera or the nurses might think I'm a little bit obsessed with my child :)

Remi's First Birthday Party was this Saturday...everything was so cute!!! That will be a whole other post later this week.

Here is Remi in his new Nikes. We are practicing walking with shoes. He prefers being barefoot, but he does pretty good.

9 Month Check-Up...

Yesterday, Remi had his 9 month check-up. He weighed in at 19.8 pounds and was 26.75 inches. This puts him in the 10th% in height and the 30th% in weight. I think he is gonna be little like his momma. Micah continues to tell me that I did not make good breeding stock :)

6 Month Check-Up...

Today, Remi had his 6 month check-up. He is weighing in at 17 lbs 10 oz and 25 3/4 inches. I think we may have a shorty on our hands. No surprise there...I'm only 5'2. I was however, surprised at his weight I thought for sure he'd be 20 lbs. I guess his growth spurt has slowed down. We are so thankful for 6 healthy months!

4 Month Check-up...

Today Remi had his 4 month check-up. He is a healthy growing boy. He weighs 16.2 pounds and is 24.25 inches. His weight put him in the 80th percentile!

He had to get two more shots. He did great on the first one-- didn't even cry. But on the second, he just screamed. It broke my heart, but this time I didn't cry. As soon as he got in his car seat he fell asleep. I think he might end up sleeping all afternoon-- poor baby. Those shots just knock him out.

2 Month check Up

Remi takes a 3 hour nap every morning after his bath. Today he decided he didn't need a nap. He usually takes his morning nap in his swing, but woke up after an hour pretty fussy- so I put him in his crib-- this is what he did for the next hour and a half. Little stinker! He just talked and talked!


He had his 2 month checkup today at 2:00. He weighed in at 13 pounds 3 ounces and was 23 inches long. I think he was in the 80th percentile in one and 75th in the other. The doctor said it is just a good sign that breastfeeding is going well :)

I didn't really think the shots would be that bad--- it was horrible. He just screamed and cried. I actually teared up too. I just hate my baby being in pain. We felt so bad for him, we didn't even make him put his clothes back on. I'm sure the nurses thought we were great parents taking home a naked baby in the middle of November- without a blanket.

2 Weeks...

Today Remi is 2 weeks old! We went to the doctor and everything went great. I packed 3 extra diapers thinking that would plenty for the outing-- he was through those within the first 15 minutes. Oops-- I'll know next time.

Remi tipped the scales at 9 lbs 4oz-- when we left the hospital 2 weeks ago he was 7 lbs 6 oz!!!! Can you believe how fast the little guy has grown. The doctor said I should sell my breast milk :) He is also 20 inches now- 1.5 inches longer than 2 wks ago.
