Our sweet little elves are back!
They showed up in their 'get-a-long shirt' so I am assuming they were ornery little boogers this year. They have seemed to stay right in the main area of the house this year, as the one time they did venture off, the boys forgot to ever go find them! One morning they brought the boys new ornaments with their Scout and Benny photos and as usual have found the sweets. Although, getting into the cookies seemed to come back to bite them in the butt... literally. I guess they still smelt of chocolate chips because the next morning when they perched up on the hearth, Benny got a hold of them both! Remi's elf had his hat pulled off, but was left on the floor unharmed. Roen's elf was brought up to the playroom where Roen was asleep and got his little bottom chewed up. Thankfully, after a visit to Momma's Elf Hospital, Jolly was good as new!
Roen would not touch Jolly when Benny had him in her mouth, so I think it's safe to say he still has some belief left in the elf magic. I can pretty well tell that Remi doesn't buy into the elves this year, but true to his caring nature, I don't think there is any way he will ask or say anything. He knows how much I love these little elves and their shenanigans and he wouldn't dream of spoiling it! This is the first year, I know he knows about Santa as well. There have been no conversations and I don't anticipate him saying a word about it. This is exactly how I remember it being for me growing up- one year I just knew. Mom didn't have to say it, we didn't talk about it, and in a way it kept so much of the magic alive. I love that Remi is following suite!
This little tradition continues to be such a fun little dose of Christmas cheer and always gives the boys a good giggle. I hope Jingle and Jolly join us every single year, helping us make memories and spreading their little magic, for many Christmases to come!
