Pumpkin Carving...

This year, we didn't actually make it to the pumpkin patch, but we did make sure we got to do the best part... carving with friends. Every year, we get together,  have dinner, sketch out our jack-o-lantern faces and then start carving! Sometimes the kids partner up,  some want help, some don't want help at all, but in the end we always have a variety of spooky and fun carvings to show for our evening!

Pumpkin carving is one of my favorite days of the whole year and it never fails to be an evening full of fun memories with our crew. This year, after we cleaned up the pumpkin mess, took pictures and ate, the boys played a round of backyard football, while the girls cheered. This year was extra special, because for the first time, Briggs really got in on the action! Looking back over the years of us doing this, makes me realize just how fast time goes and how much these kiddos have grown.

These are the days...

Pumpkin Patch & Carving...

Sunday was one of those days that was perfect in every way!

We started off our day with the late service at church. After church, we headed over to Celina for a little Mexican food on the square. We filled our bellies and then headed over to the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm in Gunter. Years ago- 5 to be exact, we ate at this same little restaurant and visited the same little pumpkin patch. My, how the boys have grown!

The kids fed all the cows and goats, successfully made it through the hay maze, skipped the hayride and then set out to find the perfect pumpkin to take home.

Once we got home, the kiddos didn't waste a minute and were all scooping, cutting and carving as soon as their church clothes had been shed. The kids did most all of it carving by themselves. The dads watched football, us moms sat on the patio watching, sipping hot tea, helping when needed, hollering at the dads to help when we tired of helping- it was a goopy, slimy, perfectly pumpkin-y afternoon!

We took lots of pictures of the finished pumpkins before the kids ran off for backyard football and a bit of kayaking. The weather was absolutely perfect, warm enough for shorts but cool enough for a sweatshirt- we couldn't have asked for better weather. We ended our day with takeout for dinner and when the time came, we all groaned at having to end our perfect day for school night bedtime routines.
