TJGT Golf Tournament...

The weekend after school started, Roen played a tournament in Ft Worth at Champions Circle. It was a last minute decision, after getting notified that there were two spots open.

Micah took Roen on day one and after he played realized he didn't take any pictures for me, he snapped one over burgers at the Hamburger Co. I was his chauffeur on day two, and I really didn't do much better with the photo documenting. This course was very hard and Roen struggled both days. Definitely wasn't how he wanted to play, but that's another tournament in the books!

Day One: 82

Day Two: 84

Kiowa Junior Championship '25...

One of our favorite tournaments has come and gone, right at the beginning of August! We love getting to play on our home course and with some of our best friends!

However, the boys came out on day one and played like they had never even seen this course that they play daily. But they came back on Sunday, took it a bit more seriously, and both played better, Roen bringing home the 14-17 Gold and Remi coming in 4th. Roen doubled 18 on day two, which is beyond disappointing, as he was sitting under par all day... but that's golf, and that's really what makes it so much fun!

Day One: Roen 85 , Remi 97

Day Two: Roen 73, Remi 89

This is tournament is a favorite for a reason, and that's because it is so much fun! No travel, no early morning wake-up calls, just the kiddos from our community, doing what they love! We even had some special guests join us on the course for day one! All in all, it was a great two days!

And need I mention, I couldn't have hand-picked better outfits for the boy's final day if I tried (this was all their doing)... pink and purple... in golf attire heaven!

All-American, The Bridges

This was Roen's first ever All-American tournament and I have to say, it was an all around pretty tough two days. It was beyond hot, especially day two, it had us hitting 101°! And then there was the golf. I can't remember the last time I saw Roen struggle like this, but he wasn't hitting, chipping or putting the ball well. Day two was a little bit better, but not much. Hoping he can get with his coach and get his kinks straightened out before his next tournament!

But our youth minister came out to watch him play and stayed for the ENTIRE  hot 18 holes... pretty special!

Day One: 89

Day Two: 83

NTPGA Medalist, Waterchase

This tournament was in Ft Worth and a whopping 1.5 hour drive! 4:30 am came real early... a little too early really! But Remi and I made it and it ended up being a beautiful course! So much water, lots of slope, trees, just gorgeous! I also had my Nantucket beach read playing in my earbuds while watching, so that had me in all the water moods!

Remi has continued to struggle this summer, but I'm hoping he can pull out of his funk by fall season- we need him on his tip top game! He ended up shooting 90 and really he is so much better than that. But as I say, onward and upward we go!

After he finished playing, he drove us all that way home because he knew how tired I was... such a little gentleman sweetheart, he is!

UA Worlds 2025...

Roen qualified for the World Championship again this year, so we got another fabulous trip to Orlando! It was hot.... like breathing fire hot... while in a sauna hot, but we survived! Remi threw in his clubs so that he could sneak in a round with Roen on his practice day!

Roen played the Nicholas Course both days, but really never found his sweet spot momentum. After day one, he had high hopes of coming in under par and ranking in the top 10-15 of the 105 golfers that competed. He ended up placing T39 at 8 over for the tournament. Not horrible, but definitely didn't showcase what he is capable of.

We went out for pizza one night and of course popped into Ford's, but ended up doing take out the rest of the time because that heat zapped us! We got home, showered and got comfy... after a little Starbucks cake pop and caramel frappuccino run that is (There was one just down the street and by the time we made it to the car drenched in sweat, a cold treat was exactly what the boys thought they needed). We watched lots of Lost in Space and Shark Tank. Both boys are snugglers, and one night all 4 of us ended up on the couch, and despite it being beyond uncomfortably squished, I just giggled. These days, I'll take any time I can get with my boys!

Practice Round:73 (Remi 81)

Day One: 73

Day Two: 79

*I included a little now and then of the boys at Ford's last year compared to this year!

NTPGA Medalist, Watters Creek...

Roen had just played this course a few weeks ago and it was hard! I knew it would be hard for Remi as well. On top of that, it was wet and cold! We were not prepared and had to buy umbrellas and a pullover for this cold natured momma in the pro-shop!

Remi ended up shooting 92 and Roen placed 2nd with a 77. I have to say, this was not my favorite day on the course! But golf surrenders to nothing but lightening, so we push through and go into survival mode, haha!

Remi snapped this picture of a slithering snake along the cart path.... they know I always like pictures of critters they spot!

Drive, Chip, Putt...

This was Roen's first time to do this competition and it really was such a fun little outing! It was a quick 3 drives, 3 chips and 3 putts, challenging accuracy. Top 2 went and Roen came in 3rd. He hit one of his drives OB, which ultimately cost him moving on to regionals, but he has one more year before he ages out.

We ended the afternoon with Pizookies and two silly boys who had us laughing and thoroughly entertained through lunch!

TJGT Elite, Plano

The day after we got home from Nationals in Florida, Roen had a big two-day tournament at Watters Creek. He was exhausted, but we are trying to squeeze in these elite tournaments whenever we are home. The course was pretty hard and neither day he played that great- shot an 82 on both days. Both boys actually play this course in another tournament pretty soon, so we will see how he does on his 3rd try!

Day 1: 82

Day 2: 82

He was playing with some pretty big boys, as you can see from the last picture. But he just chats away never letting it intimidate him!

UA National Photos...

I love that these tournaments provide photographers on the course! It makes for an easy way to sneak in a family picture and of course, some good golf swing shots!

UA Top 5 Ceremony...

I felt like Roen's belt ceremony deserved it's very own post!

He had so many special people show up to watch him be awarded! Not only the two families we stayed with, but another good golf buddy from school and also a sweet boy he plays with in the Dallas tour. It was so neat to see so many fellow golfers showing up to help celebrate with him!
