Valentine Cards...

This is the first year ever that neither boy had a Valentine box to create. You all know this broke my heart, because Valentine box making is right up there with one of my favorite things to do!

With Remi being in middle school, I knew his Valentine cards, boxes and parties were over last year. This is Roen's last year with all the elementary fun and I had hoped he would get to create a box, but as a 5th grader they don't do them- at least we got to do cards!

Roen has formed a love for penguins just as deep as his love for turtles, so that was his chosen card them. We looked at all kinds of penguin treat ideas, but in the end, I was delighted when he wanted to go with penguin bookmarks! Oh, what fun I had creating little book Valentine cards for my sweet boy! I ended up doing little cards for Remi's teachers too, because middle school teachers usually get left out of the gift giving, and they need some love too!

Valentine's 2021...

Valentine's Day has got to be one of my most favorite holidays of all! I'm a bit of a romantic, so the whole love part has always gotten me! Having elementary aged kiddos means I get to add crafting and designing to Valentine's Day, so it makes it that much more fun!

Every year, I have the very best time coming up with valentine cards that suit their little personalities. And if we get to do a box, well, that is just icing on the cake! This year, 5th grade didn't get to do boxes and Roen only got to decorate a sack- I was a bit sad because I had a pretty awesome idea for Remi's box, but we made a pretty cute little sack for Ro!

Roen had his heart set on handing out yo-yo's, so that is what we did! He still has a great big love for all things turtle, so we made him the cutest little turtle sack to hold all his valentine cards!

With Remi being my little math and science man, we ended up doing some fun little calculators to hand out to his classmates. Had he gotten to do a box, we would have done a big calculator! This was Remi's very last year for Valentine parties and cards, and all I can think is, "Already?! That was way too fast!" Time sure does fly and with junior high looming, and I am soaking up every part of 5th Grade I can!

And of course, our amazing teachers couldn't be left out! I try to do something small for the boy's classroom and specials teachers- just so they know that we truly love and appreciate every little thing they do for our school!

Because I am on the PTO, I got to help with Roen's Valentine Ice Cream Sundae Party. Parents still aren't being permitted on campus, so this was an extra special treat for me! I was also able to sneak a picture of Remi with one of his best buds in the hallway! And of course, Micah surprised me with some pretty red roses and chocolates- which Remi ended up eating most of! Valentine's 2021 was perfect in every single way!

Valentine's Day...

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love helping the boys dream up their boxes, I love designing their Valentine cards and I love the parties where they get to exchange little tokens of friendship with their classmates.

This year, Roen went with a turtle theme. Did you know he has an undying love for turtles? He has a feisty little pet turtle he named I Love Turtles- I kid you not. So, we went with a turtle Valentine box and turtle cookies to hand out.

Remi is my science man, so we created him some pretty cute little test tube science experiments to hand out to his classmates. Each test tube was filled with red heart confetti and instructions on how to do a fun little science experiment at home. His class opted for decorated sacks, so we did the best we could and used Scientific Elements to spell his name on one side and did a graduated cylinder filled with squishy fluid on the other.

I always look forward to coming up with ideas that represent my boys perfectly! I love that my 8 year old had a turtle box, when most of his buddies had sports themed boxes- Roen has never been in any hurry to grow up, and I love that about him. I love that for the third year in a row, Remi has had science related Valentine box- from a volcano, to Saturn and now test tubes. He is my constant, never veering far from what he loves!

Teacher gifts- Strawberry Poundcake candles and lotion nestled inside the cutest little pink berry baskets...

Roen may have had to miss his party, but he was all smiles about his new Valentine slides from Aunt Whit...

Remi's class had an Ice Cream Sundae bar with just about every topping you can imagine! I don't think this little stinker looked at a single Valentine card he received!

And probably one of the best parts of the day was getting to wear my new hot pink Valentine sweatshirt...

Micah and I typically don't do Valentine gifts because we would rather do date night with friends. But, being the secret romantic that he is, he can never pass up an opportunity to spoil me with goodies and treats! He gave me a dozen dipped strawberries, two bottles of champagne, a giant Hershey Kiss, a package of gummy bears and the most dainty sweet gold heart for my charm bracelet. He is too good to me and I love him for it!

Valentine's Day Boxes...

This year, the boys chose Valentine boxes that made me think a bit out of the box. Roen wanted to do the moon and Remi wanted to do Venus. Remi has been studying the solar system at school and is just full of all kinds of facts on the planets. He chose Venus because contrary to what one might think, it is actually the hottest planet in our solar system. Remi was proud that even Micah and I didn't know that.

Remi loves gluing, cutting and putting things together and so with his box, he was a big help. Roen helped here and there. He didn't really get into as much as Remi, but thats ok because I had a blast helping him and he was very pleased with the final product!

The Moon...

Since they were doing space related boxes, they wanted their Valentine cards to coordinate. I had so much fun designing their little cards and all their little classmates just loved the big bouncy balls.

Valentine's has always been one of my most favorite holidays. A holiday dedicated to pink, pretty things, love... well, it's all just right up my alley. Now that I get to help the boys create boxes and cards, it has become even more fun!

Valentine Goodies...

I had so much fun with the boys Valentine's this year. I wanted to do something really fun and boyish, so I mentioned whoopie cushions and Roen immediately loved the idea. It took Remi a bit to decide he was ok with this- he is always worried about looking silly. But in the end, they were a HUGE hit in both of their classes.

2nd Grade is the first year the kids get to make Valentine boxes. I have seriously been dreaming of the day I got to do this with my boys- that art degree pays off here and there, lol! Remi had a hard time deciding what he wanted to do, so I came up with the idea of a volcano. Remi loves science and has always had a fascination with earth science- especially volcanoes, so I thought it was the perfect idea. After mulling it over a bit, he was on board and really got into it. I would do little bits while they were at school, then he would come home and do a little work and so on. It was a team effort between the two of us!

However, as proud as he was of his volcano Valentine box, he still asked if I would carry it to his classroom for him- this did not surprise me in the least. As we walked into the building, one of his best buds said, 'Is that Remi's box?' When I told him that 'Yes, this is Remi's box' he ran into the classroom before us shouting for everyone to look at how cool his box was. The smile on Rem's face was priceless!!

Later, after school, he told me that everyone thought his box was the best! There really ins't much better in life that watching happiness spill from your children.

Before school started on Valentine's Day, the boys got to open their goodies from us. We try to keep these little holidays small and simple with the gift giving, so when I stumbled upon these boy themed bath bomb sets, I knew I had found the perfect gift. Something they will use, but also a fun little treat to get excited about!
