TJGT Golf Tournament...

The weekend after school started, Roen played a tournament in Ft Worth at Champions Circle. It was a last minute decision, after getting notified that there were two spots open.

Micah took Roen on day one and after he played realized he didn't take any pictures for me, he snapped one over burgers at the Hamburger Co. I was his chauffeur on day two, and I really didn't do much better with the photo documenting. This course was very hard and Roen struggled both days. Definitely wasn't how he wanted to play, but that's another tournament in the books!

Day One: 82

Day Two: 84

TJGT Elite, Plano

The day after we got home from Nationals in Florida, Roen had a big two-day tournament at Watters Creek. He was exhausted, but we are trying to squeeze in these elite tournaments whenever we are home. The course was pretty hard and neither day he played that great- shot an 82 on both days. Both boys actually play this course in another tournament pretty soon, so we will see how he does on his 3rd try!

Day 1: 82

Day 2: 82

He was playing with some pretty big boys, as you can see from the last picture. But he just chats away never letting it intimidate him!

TJGT, San Angelo

This was Roen's second tournament with the TJGT. When I saw their West Texas tour was playing in San Angelo, you better believe I signed Roen up! A trip home and a tournament.... two birds, one stone!

Kim and Cindy were able to come down to watch, and it was truly just the best couple of days!

Roen came out on day one shooting a 79- not anywhere close to where he wanted. Going into day 2 he was sitting 7 strokes behind 1st place.... a kid who is a very well-known junior golfer and just so happens to be one Roen would love to beat. Well, Roen came back on day 2 and gave Landry a run for his money! With an eagle putt on hole 18, Roen ended the day with a 72. This had him tied for 1st with Landry- talk about a comeback story! Had they done scorecard playoff or handicap hole as the tie breaker, Roen would have taken the gold. However, they sent them to sudden death, starting on hole one. Hole 1- both birdie, Hole 2- both bogey, Hole 3- both par, Hole 4- Roen bogeyed, Landry parred. It was an intense battle that has Roen hungry for another chance at beating Landry. It was also an absolute blast (and never-racking) to watch! I was so proud of Roen, because that type of golf takes some incredible mental game!

Remi doesn't dream of taking his golf to that next level. He truly plays for fun, but it is not what he wants to do all day, every day. With that being said, we aren't giving him quite the rigorous summer golf schedule that Roen has requested. We are putting him in enough tournaments to keep up his game, but letting him have time to enjoy summer in the ways that he loves too!

Day 1: 79

Day 2: 72

TJGT Burleson...

In order to step it up a notch, Roen has added a more competitive tour to his golf schedule.

This was his very first TJGT tournament and weather was not on his side! I ended up staying home, but Micah said it was miserably cold and rainy! On Saturday, they weren't able to finish because the course was flooded, and only got through hole 14. Going into day 2, he was sitting in 2nd place. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to keep his lead and finished R2 in 4th, only 3 strokes behind 2nd place.

R1: 63 thru 14

R2: 85

Overall, I think this proved to Roen that he can hang with this caliber of competition and he is ready! I was also pretty impressed that they went around and got pictures of the players!

Watching this boy chase his dreams is pretty incredible! He is so stinking close to taking his game to the next level and this boy wants it bad!
