Ok, I want to know what I will need to bring in my suitcase for the hospital (for me and baby). I am trying to pick out really cute pjs, slippers, going home outfits, etc... but I am not sure these things are even necessary.
You tell me...?

I am wondering the same thing! :) I have been told there are several toiletry items to def. have. A nursing bra (if you plan on nursing) granny underwear :), pajama pants and extra tshirts for you. I will be checking back to see what other moms posted! :)
I would pack a "just in case" bag also, just in case you have to have a c-section. Hopefully you won't have to get into it! In it, take gowns, you won't want to wear any kind of pants over your incision, and they have to check your blood loss several times a day since you won't have lost it during the operation, and you'll need your pants off for that. There are some cute nursing gowns at motherhood. It's also very important to walk in the couple of days following the surgery (and the next several weeks) and you might want to take a robe for when you're roaming the halls. A normal stay for a c-section is 3 nights versus the one for a natural delivery, so pack accordingly. Other than the normal toiletries (toothbrush, hair stuff, makeup, etc.) make sure that you have plenty of batteries (or your charger) and disc space in your camera and video camera. If you're bringing a baby book for visitors to sign, make sure there is a place to write down who sends flowers, etc. We didn't keep up with that and had no idea who to send thank you cards to!
I figured on bringing some pj's, undies, etc for me, some toiletries to shower with, and someting to dress the baby in for the ride home. I literally live 5 minutes from the hospital, so anything I need I can send my husband to get it, or a family member can stop by and get it.
I also don't think our hospital rooms have a pull out couch for dads to sleep on, so we will pack a cot or an air mattress for him. So you might check that out too!
All those are needed. I would recommend nursing tank tops to wear with pajama pants. Also bring a boppy or nursing pillow. They are a life saver for the first few weeks of nursing. Good luck!
all good things that are necessary listed so far! only things i would add:
-multiple nursing bras -nursing pads (in case your milk comes in at the hospital) -a pack of granny panties you buy to get ruined -ipod for favorite music during labor
It has been a long time for me but I do remember bringing really cute gowns and nursing bras. Toiletries that you need for yourself. A camera is a must. For the trip home there are so many cute pajamas pants and tees that are comfortable and possible a robe. I also brought a special outfit for each one of my babies. You know that we will be there to bring you whatever you forgot and need. I can't wait!
I've wondered this too...the other day someone asked me if I had packed for the baby yet...I was like "huh?" It had never occured to me that I needed stuff for HER! But now I have totally packed her diaper bag with what I'm sure is mostly unneccesary items, but still don't really know what to pack for myself...thankfully we don't live far away from the hospital because I will most definitely forget something. Sorry, this was no help!
Cute nursing pjs are great in theory, but I personnaly didn't end up feeling comfortable in the ones I bought in front of visitors. I ended up staying in my favorite comfy tank top and shorts.
Aromatheropy in a relaxing scent (lotion, etc) helped me out!
You might also want to consider bringing some of your own OTC pain medicines. You can/ will get some prescription pain meds, but depending on your insurance, they may charge you an arm and a leg for simple Advil.
I remember doing this very well :) I was silly and packed like makeup, blow dryer.. etc. Ha! I really recommend a comfy long pj nightgown type thing because they check you a lot.. below :) Also I know everyone said a nursing bra but I personally loved a nursing tank top- even with a c-section. Also get a robe because you'll walk the halls a lot. Granny underwear, comfy pants to go home in, slippers, and a going home outfit for baby. The hospital will actually give you a lot of stuff, like pads, nursing pads, a lot of stuff for a c-section, and everything you'll need for baby Remi. Ah one more thing... bring like powerbars and snacks for the husband and yourself you'll be so happy you did! That way Micah doesn't need to leave if you are in labor long and sometimes the vending machines don't work, shops closed, etc. Also bring your own pillow makes it more comfy :)
That is the one thing I was going to say was your own pillows! Make sure they are in a colored pillow case so the nurses know they are yours and they make it to the recovery floor with you.
