Christmas Vacation

Well, Remi had his second first Christmas. It went something like this...

Thursday morning we loaded up and set off to Gainesville ready for a fun filled weekend. Little did we know there was severe winter weather lurking ahead. Everything was going great until we hit Crossplains. It was snowing so hard that we could barely see, the roads were icy, the traffic was bad and on top of that the heater in my car went out which cause the front windshield to ice over.

So, I freak out.

I start cyring. I just knew that Remi was gonna get too cold, then we were gonna slide into another car because Micah couldn't see the road and that we might actually freeze to death out in the middle of nowhere with no phone service. Of course, nothing of the sort happened. Remi actually slept through the whole thing and was quit toasty-- I had him bundled up in every blanket I could find. Poor thing was probably too hot.

In the end we made it to Gainesville with no frostbite and everyone in tact!

but that was just the beginning...

We had a wonderful Christmas and got lots of goodies. On Sunday, we crammed my car full of Christmas goodies, our bags, Remi, Little, Micah and I. We were headed home to San Angelo. We had just made our traditional stop at Taco Casa in Weatherford and were just getting back on I30 when my car starts overheating...

Seriously!!? You've got to be kidding!

So Micah pulls over to the shoulder. It is at exactly this point that I just know some 18 wheeler going 70 mph is going to swerve onto the shoulder and hit us.. so I start freaking out and crying.. again! Then Micah decides to get out of the car and look under hood. This of course scared me because I just knew he was gonna hit by a car too! He looks under the hood and something was boiling and smoking- not sure what but I knew it wasn't good. So we just kinda sit there for a few minutes not really believing this was happening. After a few minutes he was able to get the car started enough to exit and pull into a gas station parking lot.

So we call Micah's Dad and decide that he will bring a trailer and pull my car back to Gainesville. Micah calls into work and gets the 'ok' to stay an extra day. Four hours later, Mike pulls up with the trailer ready to load us up. Thank goodness Remi got so many toys, books and clothes for Christmas-- that is how we passed the time. He also ended up having a blowout diaper and got poop all over his clothes and we had to put him in one of his new outfits. I was so proud of him for just hanging out in a cooped up car for so long!

First thing Monday morning, Micah and his dad drove to the Ft Worth Land Rover dealership, got a new thermostat, put it in my car and we were back to San Angelo by 7:30 last night.

Though it felt pretty good to be home safe and sound, we had another wonderful Christmas full of memories!

I'm so sorry. I wish you had called me! Susan lives in weatherford and would have let you come over! That's no fun waiting for four hours. I'm glad you made it there and back safely. Happy holidays!
