Africa 2013...

Whew!!! What an amazing time we all had!! We just got back home late Saturday afternoon. We are still a bit jet lagged and of course, still soaking up our babies! Trips like this are always bittersweet for me. Having such a long break from my kiddos is truly a blessing, but it doesn't take long before I am desperate to be back home with my boys in my arms.

We packed in as much as we could into our 13 days. Of course, when you are traveling across the world, it is a bit tricky because actually getting to your destination takes a very long time!

Here is a short little rundown of our itinerary:

-Day 1: Sunday, June 16th, We flew from Dallas -> Atlanta -> Johanessburg, South Africa

-Day 2: Monday, June 17th, We spent Monday night in JoBurg at The Michelangelo

-Day 3: Tuesday, June 18th, We flew to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

-Day 4-5: Wednesday, June 19th, Early that afternoon we drove threw Botswana and then boated down the Chobe Riber to Impalila Island, Nimibia (this included going through customs 4 times). We spent two nights in Nimibia at the Inchingo Lodge

-Day 6: Friday, June 21st we boated back to Botswana, drove to the Kasane Airport and flew to the Tholo Safari camp (near the town of Ghanzi, Botswana) where we stayed for the remainder of our trip.

-Day 13: Friday, June 28th We flew from camp to Maun ->Johanessburg, South Africa -> Atlanta -> Dallas

-Day 14: Saturday, June 29th we landed in Dallas around 11:00. We did a total of 34 hours of flying straight with no showers! Of course, once we landed, our bodies were telling us it was time for bed!

Our trip was full adventure and lots of fun. This week, I will cover our trip in more detail and of course, share my pictures (that will NOT do our trip justice!)

Day 1: Flying from Dallas to Atlanta and then beiginning our 15 hour flight to Africa

Headed to DFW

The whole group

Day 2: Arriving in Johanessburg, South Africa and spending the night at The Michelangelo before heading to Zimbabwe the next morning

Very Excited!! We just got off our 15 hour flight and got to stretch our legs! We had just landed in JoBurg!

Headed to eat dinner at The Butcher Shop in Nelson Mandela Square. This is where we always eat when we stay in Johanessburg. It has the best biltong (very similar to our beef jerky) EVER and we always take a bunch to safari with us.
