April Reads...

A little late, but posted nonetheless...

This past month, I focused on Jane Austen. I fell in love with her writing and her characters. She is simply amazing and her stories are just so captivating! So many books, and so little time. Seriously, it makes me so sad at to look at my book list and know that I can't just read them all at once! One day, I will read the remaining books by Austen.

Emma: This was my first book to read. I loved everything about it! I feel like Austen's wrting style was a lot easier to read than last month's, Bronte-- either that, or I am just getting used to reading all this classic British Literature. Anyways, this story follows young Emma and the independent life she lives with her father. For me, this story was about the relationships within a family. It honestly made me wish these people were in my family. I can't give away the ending, but I will say I fell in love with the charming Mr. Knightley!

Persuation: This book was surprisingly very short. I say suprisingly because most books from this time were relativly long and it didn't feel like a short read. I don't know how she did it, but Austen made this short little book feel like a wonderfully long read! This book centers around Anne and a lost love opportunity from many years ago. How elegant and well composed the women where back in the early 1800's! As I read these books, I can't help but think if these events took place in our day and time, how a whole books worth of talking would take place in just one conversation. I guess we all talk too much and don't have the patience to let things 'fall as they may'! Sweet Anne Elliot is as well composed as they come.... this book was just as good as the first! Read them both!

I just can't seem to get enough of the books written in this time era. However, for May and June a have jumped on the bandwagon reading a long series of work that I can't wait to share my thoughts on!
