His First Deer...

Early on Thanksgiving Day, Micah and Remi woke before the sun and headed out to Illinois Bend. This is the land Micah hunted as a boy and I think it's pretty special that now he gets to do the same with Remi and Roen (I kept Roen at home because he was starting to get sick).

It wasn't very late in the morning when I heard them come in announcing that Remi had gotten his very first deer. I couldn't have come up with a better way to start our Thanksgiving!

Micah taught Remi how to gut the deer, hang it to dry and then they cut it up, processed it and ground hamburger meat, cut steaks and made deer jerky. Later, Micah made a pot deer chili for dinner and I think Remi felt pretty special that he had supplied our family's dinner for the evening!



















What a learning experience for Remi! I love watching Micah teach the boys things he loves to do!
