This year, Roen decided not to do a big birthday party where he invites his entire grade. We have done this every year and I was pretty excited to do something different this year. After lots of discussion, he decided he wanted a sleepover at the lake. I came up with a camping theme and it was the sweetest little sleepover with some pretty sweet little boys! It was very hard for him to narrow down his list but in the end, he invited 6 of his closest friends.
Once the boys arrived, they checked out the tent and put their things away, then we started off with a little scavenger hunt. Each boy got a clipboard with a list of things to try and find. We gave them 20 minutes to find as much as they could and when time was up the person who found the most won a prize. My little outdoorsman, Remi, ended up winning and sported his prize headlamp all afternoon! We all sat in a circle and let the boys show off all of their findings- they absolutely loved this!
After the scavenger hunt, the boys spent the day on the water where they swam, jet skied and went for a boat ride. We ordered in pizza- Roen's request- and filled our tummies with a little dinner on the patio. Then we sang Happy Birthday and ate cake. Roen's little cake looked like a tree stump and I had the very best time making his little camping cake topper.
After cake, we all needed a little more sugar, so we headed down to the fire pit to make smores and do a little late evening fishing before bed. The boys each took turns helping build the fire. We had them out hunting for kindling, then tearing paper, carrying wood, stacking it just right and then successfully making a fire to roast our marshmallows.
We had such a fun day filled with smiles, laughs and friends. Everyone was exhausted and I was really hoping they would all quietly cozy up in their sleeping bags and drift off to sleep like babies, but it didn't really happen that way. One ended up going home, another 3 ended up inside, Roen tried to stay in the tent but ended up sleeping upstairs, and finally after lots of tooting, burping, laughing and giggling, Remi, Dawson and Asher fell asleep and slept all night in the tent. What a night!

Awesome, awesome party! I’m so happy to see all these great pictures since I wasn’t able to be there to celebrate with y’all. The tent is amazing....it might qualify for glamping 😂! Thanks so much for sharing!!
