Ringing in the New Year....

After all the Christmas fun came to an end, we loaded up and took a short little flight over to Lajitas. Although, Micah and Kyle have been here on a golf trips before, it was the first visit for the rest of us.

Really, I had no idea what to expect from this place. I knew it was out in the middle of nowhere and right on the Mexico border. It think maybe I thought we would be 'roughing' it a bit and it might be better suited as a guys trip. But, Micah has been wanting to take me for quite sometime, so I decided I had to at least give it a go.

This place turned out to be absolutely incredible! Though you are out in the middle of a desert with nothing around, you feel like you have stepped into the most quaint little village, not really feeling like you are in Texas at all. There is a restaurant, a saloon, a little bakery, a few shops, the accommodations were full of character and the landscaping pristine. The mountains surrounded us on all sides, as if we were down in bowl, and were so breathtaking that it really felt more like a movie set. Turns out, there was no 'roughing' it at all!

We joined the guys on their first day of golf, which always turns out to be hoot and a holler. By the time we hit the back 9, the course drinks have us laughing, playing music too loud and flitting around the course like little golf fairies! The guys either love it or hate it... just depends how their game is going! That night we hit up the little saloon after dinner to watch some live music from a sweet little guy who specialized in the kazoo! This was truly entertaining, but what really made the night, was that he had a bucket of kazoos for sale! You better believe we were all blowing out tunes by the end of the night!

The next day we had in-room massages, which made for a pretty perfect lazy day. We sipped tea, watched movies, read and stayed in our pajamas until it was time to get ready for dinner! We had dinner at the same place every night, but on this evening headed back to the room early for Netflix and the couch since there was no live music.

Our last day, after the guys did an early morning round, we took a little adventure up in the mountains. We all suited up in helmets and ropes, hopped on the side-by-sides and went zip lining! However, a very cold and windy front ended up hitting right as we got started and cut our fun a bit short! The front really got going while I was actually zip lining across a canyon. The gusts were so strong that not only did it keep me from reaching the other side, but it started blowing me back out, where I got to enjoy dangling above the drop-off like a little rag doll! Once I had been rescued, we high-tailed it home to get out of the cold, wind and dirt!

New Year's Eve was most definitely rung in with some well deserved fun! After dinner, we hit up the saloon for just a bit to enjoy the cutest group of grandpa musicians! Because there was an actual party we planned to attend, we had to pull ourselves away from their fiddles and guitars! The party was equally entertaining where we scuffed up the dance floor with everything from George to rap. They brought in breakfast burritos as the New Year approached and I still giggle at the fact that we literally were the last ones on the dance floor!

We ended a year to remember with enough fun to last us all another year of memories!

Well you just checked another place off my bucket list!! Yes, you and Micah do the traveling and I get the experience from your pictures. 🤣🤣. Really cheap way to go!! Seriously I’ve always wanted to see what Lajitas was like and it looks amazing. I agree the landscape is beautiful. Reminds me of Arizona a little bit. Now I wish you would’ve videoed the “golf fairies”, I bet they could have been on Americas Funniest Home Videos and won. The zip lining sounds scary. Sure glad they rescued you. Next time fill your pockets with rocks! Well from the Thirsty Goat to the NYE party it was truly a great way to end 2021!!! So glad you shared this adventure. Right up there at the top in my books! Love y’all bunches 😘
