A few weeks ago, Remi had his very first middle school awards ceremony.
Awards ceremonies are always a little hard and emotional for this momma. Remi works so very hard in school, because he has a deep passion for learning and execling academically. He truly gives it his all and every little victory comes from grinding down and working 10x harder than the average classroom student. Nothing about school is easy for this boy and as incredible as it is to watch him along this journey, it is also heartbreaking. Remi will most likely never be able to pull an A in Reading. In fact, despite his hard work and tenacity, he had several 6 weeks where he was barely able to get a B in Reading. All the while, he is my boy who made A's in every single class besides Reading. He is my child that is extracting DNA from strawberries at home- for fun. He is my child that experiments with golf balls and density on our front drive way. He is the one who created entire pulley systems in our giant oak tree. The learning never stops with this boy and the crazy thing is, most of his learning is done at home and self-taught. Not many people get to see the things this boys does at home, behind the scenes, but it is pretty incredible to witness.
Despite his ongoing hurdles, Remi had his very best school year to date. Right off the bat, Remi found his stride and never looked back. We were quick to figure out study tricks to help him succeed, we figured out our own system of staying organized with projects and homework and with lots of hard work, Remi thrived, he learned, and he ended the year feeling proud and accomplished!

I will do everything in my power to help my boys be a part of that 70% statistic!

Way to go Remi!! His accomplishments are awesome! I love to hear what he’s up to at home. I don’t get to see all of it, but the few projects I’ve had the opportunity to see are absolutely amazing. My mind can’t even get there! Most of us have no idea of the struggle the boys face. Thank you for being open and honest….I, for one, have learned a lot. Keep sharing!!
You and Micah are the wind beneath their wings! We get to watch them soar 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love y’all bunches! Give that handsome 6th grader a big hug for me 😘
