Tournament Day 1 started early and it was COLD- 27 degrees! I had on three bottom layers and four on top! Roen had an earlier tee time than Remi did, so I dropped Micah and Roen off and then went back to get Anne and Remi. Having Anne there to help really was a lifesaver!
On this first day, Anne and I got to watch Roen's first few holes. From there, we went back home, got Remi ready and then back up to the clubhouse to get going on his round. Once Micah finished with Roen, he stepped in and took over for me. Tee times got over an hour behind, which meant Remi only got through hole 13 on that first day. It was a day of non-stop shuffling around and by the end of the day, we were all exhausted! Micah grabbed food to-go and we stayed in for early bedtimes to rest up for day two.
This tournament has some of the best youth players in the country and there were so many incredible golfers the boys got to play with! Roen lost many strokes to his putting, but hit the ball great! He thrives on these intense 'go-time' situations and always pulls out his best golf for when it really matters. His 3 putts cost him lots of stokes, but he came out with an 84 on day one. Remi lost his game to nerves. These intense situations definitely mess with his mental game, and bless his heart, he just couldn't find his momentum. He did keep his attitude at bay and for that I am thankful. Both boys knew they had work to do and had high hopes at doing better on day 2!
And just to add a funny, once we arrived back at the course with Remi for warm-up, I looked down and realized I had on my house shoes!! I was able to find a very ugly pair of women's golf shoes in the clubhouse that would do the trick. But after realizing how far behind tee times were, I actually went back to the house and grabbed my shoes! It was one of those moments where I was running around, making sure I had all my boxes checked and just let my comfy feet fall off the radar! I wonder how many people saw me walking around, sporting my house slippers, lol!

Mother Nature wanted to be sure y’all felt at home with that 27 degree weather! Brrr 🥶
I’m sure both boys were nerve wracked at the start of day 1. I honestly can’t even imagine how they felt. I’m so proud of both of them. And your wardrobe malfunction is the best story ever! Clearly your little toes were toasty in those house shoes 😂😂. Glad those “old lady” shoes were there until you could get back to your shoes! Staying tuned…..
Love y’all 😘
