I always like to end our trips with nothing on our agenda. I like us to wake up to the water and end in the water. So, we all slept as late as we wanted, and then had breakfast at the resort. We had had fruit smoothies, island pancakes and of course, bacon and eggs. We showed up in our swimsuits, knowing we were headed straight to the water after eating and we did exactly that.
Micah and the boys played a bit of beach frisbee before we decided it was time for a good old-fashioned sand castle competition! Remi and Micah paired up against Roen and I. This is something we all get into and had so much fun doing! Micah and Remi built a giant volcano with 'Nevis' spelt out on it in seashells, winning them the Largest Sandcastle award. Roen and I built a donut factory with one big donut hub in the middle complete with seashell sprinkles and small donut trench pools branching off. We won the award of Most Creative. In case you're wondering, I gave out awards and there was NO WAY I was letting those two beat me, so we all won, hahaha!
Chef Elvis came back that evening for one last time. He finished off our meal with homemade banana splits that had us all in ice cream heaven! Because the island is so small, the food options were definitely limited, so having a chef come was not only recommended, but ended up allowing us to have a few home-cooked meals! It was wonderful!
In every aspect, these travels are educational, a real world experience that you can't gain in any other way. Tip-toeing down pebbled paths in search of island monkeys, the excitement in stumbling upon a momma with her tiny baby on her back, the thrill as they hop along branches, mangos raining down and then squishing under our feet. The response of these animals dancing through the trees as Remi identifies the species and then plays their specific calls and sounds from his phone. That little hour, of one single afternoon is just one tiny example of an experience we will never forget. These incredible interactions with wild nature are like jewels we collect, feeding our fascination with this great big world and all there is to discover! These memories are what I look forward to making all year long and always leave me knowing that what boys have been fed is far too precious to put into words.
Nevis, it was epic and God-willing, one day, I'll be back to your volcanic sandy beaches...

I’m always a little sad when I read last day in the Davenport’s adventure, but it never disappoints! I love the sand castle competition! Pretty sneaky how you get to be the judge and select the categories 🤗. Maybe pretty smart is a better way to say it! 😉. The guacamole and chips look delicious, as does Remi’s smoothie! And a banana split…that’s the icing on the cake! Your summary of the life lessons learned is spot on! It’s wonderful to experience all that first hand. Times that will live on forever! I’m pretty sure I sound like a broken record, but thank you, thank you, for always sharing your stories and pictures! This is the best way to travel for me! Love y’all bunches!! 😘
