Lake Victoria & Chimpanzees...

Lake Victoria was beautiful! It is also HUGE! It is actually the world's largest tropical lake. Not only did we get to stay right on the lake at Lake Victoria Serena Resort a couple of nights, but we got to take a boat ride to a small island in the lake to a Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

The sanctuary is a place for orphaned Chimpanzees. They live in the wild forest but come in for scheduled feedings and bedtime. There were around 40 chimps total. There was an electric fence that separated us from them, but we were able to get pretty close as they came in to eat fruit. They were so loud and cute. They would raise their hands when they wanted more and they would chase each other around and fight over food. It was so funny!

Being silly

a little baby on it's 'momma'. Since these are all orphans, this is not really it's mom, but they act as a serogant to the babies. It is pretty neat.

This completes my Africa Series...

What an amazing trip and memories I will always cherish! We are beyond blessed to be given this opportunity to explore such a beautiful part of God's creation!
