Time Out...

On Wednesday, Remi got sent to timeout for the second time this year. The first time was last week. Honestly, I am a bit proud of him for going this long. You never really know how your kids will behave at school and since he is so challenging at home, I feared he might be at school as well. However, as challenging as he might be, he is also a rule follower.

All this to say, he has been a really good student thus far. In fact, when I was up at his school the other day I asked one of the teacher aids how he was. This is what she said... and I quote... "Remi is pretty quite"... what?!! For real?!!! Must be nice!

Any ways, the first time he got sent to time out was because while they were lining up from recess, he was playing on the rail. Bless his heart, he told on himself. As we were driving home, he said "momma, I went to timeout today". I, of course, freaked out (a little dramatically) because I want him to know that getting in trouble at school is serious no matter what he did. He then asked if I was mad and I said no, that I was just upset and disappointed. He then got really upset and cried all the way home :( It makes me happy that he dislikes disappointing me so much.

I told him that he had to tell his teacher he was sorry the next day. As I dropped him off the next morning, I reminded him again to apologize. Later, after picking him up from school, I asked him if he apologized. He told me that his teacher was not there but that he told his teacher aid. MELT MY HEART INTO A MILLION PIECES!!!

So, on Wednesday, he told me as soon as he got into the car. He knew I would be upset and cried when I told him how disappointed I was in him again. Here's the thing....

I couldn't quite laughing....

Ya'll he got put in time out because when it was time to line up for recess, he hid in the playground tunnel because he wasn't ready to come in yet.

This is one of those parent moments when I think what my child does is funny and probably no one else does. But seriously, I just thought it was so sweet how he explained what happened (through tears) and he seemed so very innocent, like it made perfect sense to him to hide!!!
