Busy at the House...

Well, things have been pretty busy at the house.

This week, the tile guy has been hard at work. So far, he has tiled the pantry, laundry and guest bath backsplashes. They finally installed my sweet little ironing board in the laundry room and put in all the shelfs of built-ins and installed all the ceiling vents.

Here is a shot of my quant, little laundry room. On the right, you can see my wall mounted ironing board... it still needs to be painted...

(The grout will be a light grey) I wanted to go with something classic so I chose white subway tile that is beveled to give it a little sprucing up

Our new kitchen sink came in and the kitchen cabinets are almost finished being redone in that area. About the kitchen sink...

If you remember way back, I ordered a beautiful vintage kitchen sink and was so excited about it! However, when it got here, the finish was cracked and peeling in places even though it had just been refinished. We sent it back. After a bit more research, we decided not to go vintage because when cast iron is refinished it can often start to yellow. So, we found a company that made the exact sink only new. We got it and it has been setting in our garage this whole time. When the day finally came for it to be installed, we quickly realized it was not a high quality sink. Instead of cast iron, it was acrylic and felt very low-quality. We didn't want to spend all this time and effort on building the house of our dreams and regret such a big decision. Even if we put it in and then changed our mind, we would have to install new countertops because the sink was so big. Anyways, my second choice in sink was a farmhouse apron front sink. Obviously, they did not build our kitchen cabinets to support this sink so that meant redoing a big portion of the cabinets after they had already been painted. I'm stubborn and said 'make it work'. So about 4 weeks later, they are 'making it work' and I will forever be grateful that I didn't give in to the undermounted stainless sink our builder tried to talk me into.

In my mind, my kitchen has always had a white sink and it just wouldn't have been right with anything else.

We have stain samples for the mancave... I'm thinking the darkest... just waiting for Micah's approval

AND.... my builder says the house will be done in September. Probably the very last day in September, but I'll take it!! But.... the mancave is several weeks behind the house so we will most likely be waiting on that before moving in. Maybe we can spend Halloween in our new house???

Once we move in, I probably won't leave the house for months. I will most likely be found sitting on my back porch (with a book and possibly a glass of bubbly to celebrate) watching my kids track muddy, dirty feet in and our of our very new and 'white everywhere' house.... oh, it will be glorious!!

It is coming together just gorgeous!! Way to stick with the sink you wanted. They will move on past you, and will get over it very quickly! Can't believe move in (and decorating) is so close!
