A Magical Getaway...

On Friday afternoon, we hopped on a ship and sailed hundreds of miles into the beautiful Caribbean to explore the islands of the Bahamas.

We knew we wanted to take the boys to the beach this Summer. We decided that it was would be really fun to take them right before school started and after fiddling around with different places to go, we decided on a Disney Cruise. We ended up finding a great little getaway to the Bahamas for only three nights. Micah and I both knew any longer than that was most definitely longer than we could do. I love my children, but a vacation with littles is NOT a vacation for anyone BUT the kids :)

We got to visit two different islands; Nassua and Castaway Cay. They were both beautiful and the waters were crystal clear, but our favorite was Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.

The ship itself was beautiful. As Disney is know for, every little detail was thought of, and the staff was incredibly organized and kid friendly. I, of course, loved the shows every night- they were like mini broadway shows for kids- but the boys, were unfortunately very bored. I have some pretty active little dudes (including my husband) and sitting down to watch people dance and sing is just a bit out of their element!

We decided to fly into Orlando the day before we set sail to avoid waking up at an hour that was too early even for the earliest of early birds.

Here are the boys Thursday afternoon, ready to hop on the plane...

Day One:

We woke up early the next morning, had a little room service pancake breakfast in bed and hit the road. It took us about an hour to reach the cruise terminal. From there, there was lots of lines, checking in, and impatient boys!

As they were checking everyone in, they took these little family pictures

Of course, once we actually got on the boat, we had to check everything out while we waited for our rooms to get ready...

Before getting into our swimmers, we had a quick lunch... we indulged in some amazingly yummy stone crab...

Following lunch, we promptly hopped into our swim gear and splashed around all afternoon...

The boys took a short break to watch the ship embark upon the deep blue sea...

Before heading back to our room to get ready for the evening show and dinner, we stopped for some ice cream...

Ready for "The Golden Mickeys" and dinner...

The boys were very excited to see the bed that folded down from the celling! After a long day, they tucked in for their first night on the sea...

Day Two:

Upon waking up, the boys immediately realized that we were at land once again and were just a little excited about exploring their first taste of the Bahamas in Nassau! Here are the little turkeys checking it out from our balcony in their undies :)

But, first things first, no morning would be complete without Mickey waffles...

We spent the day at the Atlantis Resort. It was huge! There were so many swimming pools that we lost count after about 10! The boys loved looking at all the sea life. Everywhere you looked where pools full of sting rays, saw fish and sharks!

The boys have been waiting to go dig for 'treasure' and splash around in the ocean all Summer long. So, the first thing we did was walk to the beach. The waves were pretty strong and with Roen still being pretty small, he got tossed around a bit, but wouldn't rest or take breaks for anything in the world!

Before heading back to Atlantis for lunch and swimming pools, we talked the boys into taking a banana boat ride in the ocean blue! It was really fun and I might have even pretended we were on the movie Jaws :)

I don't think anything could top snow cones on a Bahamian Island...

As we made our way back to the ship for naps, we went through all the underground aquariums... one of the boy's favorite things we did!

Saturday night was pirate themed on the ship. After our 'Villains of Disney' show, we found some pirate swords and guns to play around with on the upper deck before dinner...

Day Three:
This was my favorite day. Although, there were no pools on the Disney Island, there was a long cay that ran right in front of the actual beach of the island. This made the waters extremely calm, much like an ocean swimming pool and the boys had the best time ever! We spent all morning swmiming and diving for shell treasures. We ended up filling up a whole bucket!

Early afternoon, a torrential downpour hit the island and we deiced to head back to the ship. It rained most of the afternoon so we spent the afternoon in our room taking hot showers and checking out all our shells!

After the rain stopped, we went to the upper deck for a little more swimming before our last show and dinner...

Everynight, we got two big buckets of popcorn- every kernel got eaten.... it was the best popcorn ever! Our final show was 'Believe' and I loved it. We decided to skip dinner for a quick room service meal so that we could get the boys in bed early for a long day of traveling home on Monday.

I think the boys had a blast having mommy and daddy all to themselves! There really is nothing better than seeing your boys come to life as they explore the beauties and wonders of this great big world.

I hope that memories of theses little adventures will stay with the boys forever...

What an awesome adventure! I agree with Kiley...you all packed in a ton of fun in three short days. The pictures are reflective of the adventurous spirit that lives inside the boys. So happy that y'all had fun and are back home safe. Thanks for sharing. Love you all!
