Remi is 7...

How is it possible that today, my adventurous, little Remi is 7?!

It's no secret that Remi often times proves to be a challenge. He is stubborn, too smart for his own good and really just full of ways 'figure it out', 'make it work', or 'do it better'. He would argue with a brick wall if he could and many times thinks he is the leader of this family instead of a seven year old. Often, his eagerness to learn gets in the way of him making good decisions. For example.... if Remi is outside making a 'machine' out of boxes/empty milk cartons/trash/junk (which he seems to always be doing) and decides he needs to conduct some crazy experiment, pretending absolutely will not do, so helping himself to the pasta/flour/food in the pantry is just the thing to do- even though he knows this is not ok! I often find little rats nests around the house of things he has either gotten into or decided to collect. His imagination is in full force 100% of the time and little gets in his way!

But this browned eyed, explorer also has the biggest and most sincere heart. There is no way I could count the number of times he tells me he loves me or that 'your the best mama in the whole werld (because he can't quiet say 'world' the right way) in a single day. When he has done something that has really upset me, he will cry and beg for forgiveness with a broken heart. When I am sick and laying in bed, he makes me love notes, checks on me, tells me he hopes I am better soon and first thing in the morning, he will ask if I'm all better. When I cook, he always tells me 'thank you mamma for the food, it is delicious'... even if he doesn't really like it. His happiest times are when we are all together as a family. He loves making his daddy proud and making his mamma smile! He is always building, creating and making something... he is not a sit still-watch tv all afternoon type of boy. He has a need to be busy and use his hands. He is an amazing eater and will eat pretty much anything I put on his plate. He loves helping in the kitchen, bedtime stories, eskimo kisses and science.

Remi isn't one to follow a crowd. Regardless, of what others are doing, he follows his own ideas. He has no problem being alone and doing his own thing but he usually has one good buddy by his side digging holes or tree roots at recess! Remi tends to be my more serious child who likes to know how things work and why. I can remember an afternoon many months ago, when we were watching a video on venomous snakes- Remi immediately went to the art room, and drew up a venom extracting machine... he sees something and instantly has an intense determination to re-create it in some form of fashion... that is just how Remi is.

He is my fierce little leader with a heart of gold....

This time 7 years ago, we were wondering what exactly we had gotten ourselves into... turns out, it was the biggest adventure of our lives...
