Pinewood Derby 2017...

Well, Saturday turned out to be so much fun!

There were 42 car entries total. All siblings were allowed to build and race their cars along with the Scouts. The track had 4 lanes and each car got to race in 4 random heats. The lowest time was dropped and the other three times were averaged to get a time for each car. Within each den, there was a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and then there was an overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner.

All Scouts got a derby patch for building and entering the Derby Races. The siblings who didn't place, got participant medals and then the Scouts who placed got trophies.

Remi ended up getting 2nd place in his Tiger Den. It was his very first trophy he has ever received.... he is very proud of his trophy!

Roen had some pretty stiff competition in his group, so he ended up with just a participation medal... but sweet Roen is such a good sport. He put a smile on his face, was proud for Remi and his trophy and had nothing but happy things to say about the whole day. He has already been brainstorming on what he wants to do next year to earn a trophy.

Here are all 42 cars. Most cars looked very professional. We let the boys have full control over their painting jobs and their cars looked very homemade. But, I have to say, in the upcoming years, they will want their cars to be taped off, shiny and perfect.... and I will always look back on their first little cars and I have no doubt, they will remain my absolute favorite!

After all the racing excitement, we went to lunch, and then quickly headed to play a little basketball...

Instead of crayons, this restaurant gave the kids Wikki Sticks... they were quite entertained!

Congrats to the boys! They both did outstanding. I can't believe how many cars there were...bet it took a little while for all the races. Tough competition ! Love the picture of them & Micah...all three are beaming!! Looks like Pops was a very proud "grand" too. Glad he was there to cheer them on. Y'all had a day full of blessings! Be sure and tell Remi his new glasses are way cool. I thought he was Waldo for a minute....lol! Happy Monday! Love you all.
