Our 2nd day was spent fishing!
Fishing is always something we dedicate an entire day to doing. Remi is our little fisherman, but both love reeling in any swimming critter that is willing to bite! We started off with a bit of deep sea fishing, where Roen caught a Mahi Mahi, the boys hooked a barracuda each, and a handful of other fish. From here, we scooted on over to some more shallow waters, where we learned a local fishing method- hand lining. This was so fun and literally so simple! We just baited a line, and then threw it in, no pole, just holding the line, bare hands. We caught tons of fish this way! Strawberry grouper and yellow tail were biting like crazy, and Remi really hit the honey hole, pulling them in, one right after the other!
After catching enough fish for our dinner, our captain took us over to another area, where we all dove for conch. Teaching us to look for a shell with a lip, an indication that the conch was big enough to eat, we successfully caught dozens of these critters, to throw in with our fish catches! He cleaned the conch right off the boat so he could throw the shells back into the water and while cleaning, we all got our first taste of conch pistol- a long, slimy and translucent, tubular part that pulls right out of the critter! It really did not have much of a taste, maybe a bit salty, but in full appreciation of something new, we ate tons of them!
After we made it back to our resort, we dropped our conch and fish off with the restaurant chef, along with our cooking preferences. We went back to the room, to get cleaned up and then enjoyed our fresh conch salad, fried fritters and blackened fish! It was so yummy and such a fun way to enjoy our fishing adventure full circle!

Let me just start by saying…this was worth the wait!!!! What a fun day. Y’all are definitely up for adventure and this looks like a huge success 👏🏻 Both the boys look like pros. Just reeling them in. Now the line fishing would be my favorite. We did that with crabs. Nothing better than getting bite after bite. Now the concha…just reading about it was making my tummy twirl 🤢. I’m thinking all of you must have been sipping on that goombay punch!! That string just looks disgusting!! Thanks so much for sharing this day with us. It looks like y’all ended it with a delicious dinner. Love y’all bunches! 😘
