Our Wildcat Football season has officially come to an end!
Our Varsity boys made it to the second round of the playoffs! We love rootin' on our Varisty Wildcats and always have a blast spending our Friday nights under the lights, crammed in the stands with friends, eating concession stand nachos, and ringing our cowbells as loud as we can!
Neither boy played football this year. Roen's collar bone incident left us making him sit out this season, but he was still all smiles anytime he got to wear his jersey or sit on the sidelines with his team. Right now he isn't sure if he will play next year. He knows he would love every minute, but he puts in hours and hours golf practice every week and if you were to ask him right now, today, he would say no, that the chance of getting hurt isn't worth risk or missing out of Fall golf. I will be very interested to see what this little guy decides to do next fall, but just between us, I hope he keeps his focus on those birdies and putts.
Remi knew pretty early on that football was not something he was interested in. He has never been my child to follow the crowd, and so once his mind is made up, there isn't much that will change it. Remi tends to look at life in a scientific way, and when he considered football, he was instantly calculating the risk reward factor. In the end, there is no part of him that thinks the chance of getting hurt on the field is worth his time. He supported the 7th grade team every chance he got and would tell you, not once, did he regret his decision. Micah and I have watched this boy march to the beat of his own drum for 13 years now, and it's not looking like he is joining anyone else's parade anytime soon.
We have now moved into basketball season which is second only to golf for this mamma! I LOVE watching the boys play basketball. Roen will be a on small team with all his closest buddies and Micah is looking forward to this season that will be his very last time to coach Roen. Practice has started, but games won't start for awhile.
Remi has finally had his very first taste of school sports. I think he is seeing real quick that every coach is different and things may not always seem fair. Remi was put on the B Team and though it was a tough pill to swallow, he is learning that starting on B is better than bench-warming on A. Rem not only started his first game, but played most of the time, had some great assists, made a couple of points and looked pretty darn good out on that court. Both, Micah and I were so proud of him and look forward to a fun season of MS Wildcat Basketball!

Football season is a great time of year! The cheering section of kids sure brings back some wonderful memories for me. So long ago ð. I’m excited for basketball season and hearing about their games. Still seems crazy that Remi is playing Jr. High sports. He sure looks handsome…but did he put his shoes on in the dark and never look down? Or is this a new thing? Mis-matched shoes ðĪŠ
I really love the picture of him and Micah ♥️. Good luck Remi and Roen!! Love y’all!! ð
