National Junior Honors Society...

It was 5th grade when the gaps created by his dyslexia had us facing challenges I wasn't sure we would ever overcome. In the past two years, this boy has been relentless and done what we once thought was impossible. Remi's induction into the National Junior Honors Society represents so much of his resilience in this journey, that may never be easy, but what contributes to what we love most about him.

Words can't really describe the emotions this accomplishment stirs up. As a mom, I have watched this boy go through the trenches with teachers, schoolwork, but mostly himself. It is a constant battle of giving what doesn't come easy, meeting expectations that seem just out of reach, wanting to mask his struggles, yet needing to excel in order to keep his motor going. It has truly taken so much behind the scenes work from us all. But regardless how much support he has had to get where he is, it is his deep desire, that onward and upward mentality that has been the driving force behind it all.

There was a time, not too long ago, when people gave up on Remi. People who were supposed to be in his corner. People that wanted to throw in the towel and blanket him with being flawed. I think of this often, and how far he has come, how much work he has put in to building himself back up, from the inside out. This is a quote I stumbled across awhile back, and it has served as my inner inspiration for this journey I share with Remi...

"Throw me to the wolves, I'll come back leading the pack."

I'm not sure anyone can fully understand what this journey is like, not really. It is hard, it is heartbreaking, and it is utterly exhausting, BUT, when we get to conquer and stand tall on these mountains, it is also glorious!

I pray that Remi can keep plowing through, leading the way for stragglers, for those who struggle to keep up, for those that have been given up on. In all of this, it will always be about turning around and helping those behind us, so that one day, everyone can have that chance of a mountaintop view.

I am so proud of Remi and it was such an honor to be there and watch him be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society!! I can’t imagine what all the future holds for him…the sky’s the limit!! Most of us will never know the trenches he and his support group (namely you and Micah) have been in, but we will never stop holding all of you in our hearts and most especially our prayers! I absolutely love the quote you shared…he will be leading the pack for sure. Keep blazing those trails, Remi and chasing your dreams!! We’re right behind you, cheering you onward and upward!! Thanks for sharing this great achievement!! Love y’all 😘
And by the way…the rest of y’all missed out on the delicious cookies 😉. Roen and I had dessert before dinner 😂😂
