Wildcat Basketball...

Basketball season is finally here! 

Roen has been looking forward to this day for so long! Now, he is finally getting his turn at school sports! He loves basketball almost as much as golf and he is a blast to watch out on that court. This season will be especially fun because now I get to watch both boys play middle school ball!

Roen earned himself a spot on the A team, and Remi is on the B team again. Remi seems to be happy about his little spot on B team and has nothing but positive things to say. He did get pulled up to play on the A team over break, when they were a few players short, and I think it made him feel pretty darn good getting moved up, even if only for one game. 

Roen is pretty small out there, but there is nothing small about his mentality! Don't tell him I said this, but I have as much fun watching him play basketball as I do watching him golf! Roen is my mover and doer and approaches everything in life with super speed, so he is definitely in his element playing ball!

I think last year took away a lot of Remi's confidence as a basketball player.  It's sad how a program can do that to athletes, but I also think it's all a part of the 'why' behind team sports. Remi has several really good buddies on his team and so far, he is having a blast! He may not be lead scorer, or the most aggressive player out there, but he does his best and is always a coachable, respectful player.

This is their first taste of competitive sports where their peers are here for it all. With Roen getting to do early morning practice with all Remi's friends on 8A, there could have been bitter feelings over team placement. I am so so thankful for my boys who have humble little spirits, because we have had zero issues at home. Roen would never in a million years act like he is better than Remi, and Remi would never make Roen feel bad for his accomplishments. My boys are far from perfect, but the whole humility thing...well, that's where they shine!
